ABSTRACT

The oxygen tension of the maternal arterial blood in 135 pregnant females in the third trimester was studied. 35 cases as normal control group and 100 cases of hypertension with pregnancy. 20 more cases of I.U.F. death were studied as well, of whom four cases of recent [2-7] days and 19 of prolonged [8 days- 8 weeks] duration of death. The maternal arterial P02 in normal pregnant cases was found lower than the accepted mean of non pregnant, again the maternal arterial P02 in hypertensive cases and I.U.F.D, cases were found significantly lower than in normal cases

ABSTRACT

Two cases of [Vestibular Anus] were encountered at the same time, in the same ward at the Shatby University Hospital. These two cases were interesting not only in being rare but also in illustrating the two extremes in the symptomatology of this condition. In the first case the small stenotic opening of the ectopic anus with an associated megaclon leading to contineous faecal incontinence forced the 12 years old girl to seek medical help. The second case was discovered accidently during a routine pelvic examination done in the sterility clinic for a 30-years old married woman complaining of eight years of primary sterility and she was not even aware of the congenital abnormality. Successful operative treatment was done in the first case, while in the second cause as bowel evacuation was good no surgical interference was indicated

ABSTRACT

Because of its extreme rarity and lurking danger a case of a difficult delivery of a dicephalic monster is reported. The poor unlucky patient, who had no medical care all through her pregnancy, was attended by a [Daya*] when she was in labour. The baby who was presenting by the breech was pulled upon [for several hours] by this ignorant attendant before she finally gave up and sent the patient to the Shatby Maternity Hospital. Vaginal delivery was possible only after decapitating one head. Review of the literature on this interesting subject was necessary with special reference to the classification of different types of conjoined twins, the nomenclature, and theories put for the development of such abnormalities
