ABSTRACT

A recognised and reliable methods were used to measure serum glucose level in fifty seven patients with different histologic types of primary lung cancer. Statistical analysis of the data revealed a significant increase in the level of serum glucose in all histologic types [P< 0.001, P< 0.02, P< 0.01 and P< 0.001]. The change in this parameter pre and post operatively might be of value in staging and follow up of patients with bronchogenic carcinoma.

ABSTRACT

A recognized and reliable methods were used to measure serum total protein and its electrophoretic patterns in fifty seven patients within different histologic types of primary lung cancer. Statistical analysis of the data revealed a significant decrease in the level of serum total protein and albumin [P<0.001 and <0.001 respectively]. With the respect to normal control groups. While serum globulin fractions showed significant increase than the control group in most histologic types. All these biochemical abnormalities were returned to normal state after surgical operation. Most of these parameters measured in this study might be of value in differentiation between different histologic bronchogenic carcinoma
