ABSTRACT

A combination of 150 mgm. dihydroxy progesterone acetophenide and 10 mgm, estradiol enanthate was given interamuscularly, at monthly intervals to 31 highly fertile women, for 481 cycles. Clinical and laboratory evaluation were carried out. The combination proved to be an effective and acceptable contraceptive. Not a single pregnancy was encountered during medication. Side effects and menstrual abnormalities were well tolerated and were not substantial causes for dropouts. There were about 1980 blood tests done through the trial to study any change in the haematologic picture, liver function or blood chemistry, with no significant abnormality
