ABSTRACT

The awareness of alterations of Blood pressure, plus rate and anxiety of patients during periodontal surgeries, Not only prevents the occurrence of many emergencies, But also is effective in controlling patient during dentistry treatments. The present study was aimed to assess the effects of Lidocaine and Prilocaine on Hemodynamic changes and anxiety. In this experimental clinical trial 80 patents attending periodontal department of Shahid Beheshti dental school [1383-84] were divided by randomized sampling into Lidocaine and prilocaine. Blood pressure, pulse rate and anxiety were analysed before and 10 minutes after injection of anaesthetic solution. Local anesthesia had no significant effect on systolic blood pressure after injection, but Prilocaine with Felypressin increased more diastolic Blood pressure than Lidocaine with adrenaline on the other hand, after injection Lidocaine with adrenaline increased heart rate than prilocame with felypressin. There was no significant effect on anxiety after injection in both groups. The choice of local anesthesia influenced the heart rate and diastolic blood pressure in patients under periodontal surgery
