ABSTRACT

Thirty patients with rheumatoid arthritis were studied for effects of the disease on hearing, laryngeal function, temporomandibular joints and nose. Investigations included audiometry, tympanometry, direct laryngoscopy in selected cases and plain X-ray of the TMJ. Analysis of the results showed 7 cases with mild sensorineural hearing loss, 2 cases with mild conductive hearing loss, 4 cases with type As tympanogram, 8 cases with cricoarytenoid joints affection and 15 cases with TMJ affection
