ABSTRACT

Cirrhotics have a high mortility and morbility 60-80% of lives cirrhotic have oesophageal varices and bleeding from oesophageal varices secondary. Many American study suggest a routine endoscope for thise patient in order to detect the varices early where the treatment carry a high success -Many areas the endoscope is not avoalde hence we arrange this study to evaluate the platelets count/spleenic bipolar diameter ratio in detecting the oesophageal varices -50 patient with cirrhotic subjected to complete bl. picture especially platelets, L. F tests, upper endoscope and abdominal sonar to determine bipolor spleenic ratio -Conclusion results showd there is a significant decrease platelets count spleenic bipolor diameter ratio in these with oesophageal varices and portal hypertension gastropathy than in these without So I recommend the use of this sample method instenal of endoscpe to detect O. V. and P.H.G early
