ABSTRACT

A total of 300 patients with superfacial fungal infection was studied. Their mean age was 20.5 years with almost equal sex ratio. Tinea versicolor was the commonest fungal infection seen[44.7%] with a mean age of 23.5 years. The disease was more common in males than females [1.5:1]. The disease was very distressing cosmaticaly to many patients. Recurrence rate was high [54.5%]. The incidence of this disease in increasing Tinea corporis constituted 19% of patients. It was commonly seen among children [men age 14.2 years]. Tinea capitis was present in 12.7% of the cases which were mainly children with a mean age of 5 years. Males were affected more than females[1.5:1]. The clinical types were mainly scaly type or kerion but no case of favus was seen. Tinea cruris was seen in 11.7% of cases affecting mainly males with a mean age of 27 years. Tinea faciei was present in 5.3% of patients mainly children with a mean age of 8.2 years and more among males [2.2:1]. Tinea unguium constituted 4.7% of cases and all were housewives with a mean age of 33.4% years. The condition was seen only in finger nails. Tinea pedis was seen in only 4.3% of the cases. Almost all patients were housewives with a mean age of 29 years and almost always the 3rd. and 4th toeweb spaces were affected

ABSTRACT

A total of forty nine patients with erythema multiforme was studied. Twenty six patients were male and twenty three were females with a mean age of 22.7 years. In 65.3% of the patients, erythema multiforme was preceded by simplex facialis. The latent period between the herpes simplex infection and erythema multiforme ranged from 2-14 days with a mean of 5.5 days. The post-herpetic erythema multiforme was recurrent in 28.1% of the cases
