ABSTRACT

The objective of the study was to determine the pattern of partial edentulism and find its association with age and gender. This study was carried out on patients visiting the OPD of prosthodontics department of Lahore Medical and Dental College, Lahore. The duration of the study was two months. 367 patients were studied. Partial edentulism pattern was recorded by visual examination using Kennedy's classification. Class III dental arch was the most dominant pattern in maxilla with class IV being the least in number. With an increase in age, there is an increase in the Class I and Class II dental arch tendency and a decrease in Class III and class IV both in maxilla and mandible. Gender had no significant relationship with distribution of RPD classification

ABSTRACT

Mandibular denture instability is a common problem in patients with atrophic mandibular ridges. Various methods had been employed by the profession to overcome this problem. The objective of this study was to evaluate role of neutral zone approach in atrophic edentulous mandibular ridges. Twenty edentulous patients with atrophic mandibles were selected. Seven evaluation factors were analyzed and compared. Three factors stability, tongue space and position of anterior teeth were better achieved by using neutral zone technique. Successful denture can be fabricated by using neutral zone in atrophic mandibular ridges

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this prospective study was to assess the effects of anterior maxillary expansion screw [RAGNO] on anteriorly narrow maxilla cases. [V-shaped arches]. The study involved 11 patients with average age 17.5 years. All patients had permanent dentition with anteriorly constricted maxilla; normal intermolar width and no cross bite in the posterior region with mild to moderate crowding in the anterior region of the maxillary arch. The angular and linear changes related to maxilla were analyzed by Welcoxon signed rank test. Postro anterior [PA] cephalometric radiograph [T1] were taken before, [T2] immediately after and [T3] 3 months after expansion. Intercanine distant [ICD] showed significant increase. The comparison of the differences between the retention and the total periods showed significant difference. MIMD did not show any significant change in the different stages of expansion but there is slight increase in distance. There was significant expansion in the intercanine and intermolar width

ABSTRACT

Mandibular denture instability is a common problem in patients with atrophic mandibular ridges. Various methods had been employed by the profession to overcome this problem. In this study selective pressure impression technique and neutral zone have been compared. Certain factors are better achieved by one technique and others by second method. But statistically neutral zone concept yielded relatively better outcome
