ABSTRACT
The severity of pectus excavatum deformity is the critical variable in preoperative planning. In adult patients in whom no cardiopulmonary dysfunction and previous unsuccessful corrective surgeries are evident, the authors'choice is esthetic repair using inclusion of a silicione prosthesis. The reasons why the authors opt for their method are described as well as manufacture of the prosthesis and technique used. Results in 13 patients are considered satisfactory both for the early and late postoperative period (average 7-year follow-up).
