The role of transrectal fine needle aspiration cytology and core needle biopsy in the diagnosis of prostatic carcinoma was evaluated in 50 patients. Thirty cases had palpable prostatic nodules and twenty had clinical evidence of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Both methods yielded a specificity rate of 100%. Fine needle aspiration was less traumatic and detected more neoplasms [89.5%] than the core needle method [73.7%]. It was concluded that fine needle aspiration is considered an important diagnostic method in patients with prostatic carcinoma

Fifty patients with kidney stones were subjected to percutaneous stone extraction. The early cases were well selected for training purposes. Small stones were removed intact and bigger ones were fragmented ultrasonically. Access to the kidney was done under fluoroscopic guidance. The success rate was 80% with few minor complications. The results are analyzed and pitfalls in the procedure were discussed
