ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the status and influencing factors of the health literacy(HL) of college students in a comprehensive university. METHODS: A total of 3 360 students from in a comprehensive university of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps was selected using multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method. The HL level of college students was investigated and evaluated with self-edited Xinjiang Construction Corps College Students Health Literacy Questionnaire. RESULTS: The HL level of college students was 17.1%. The HL level of medical students was higher than that of non-medical students(35.4% vs 10.0%, P<0.01). Logistic regression analysis results showed that among the medical students in grade three or four, those with medium and excellent academic achievement, and Han nationality had a positive effect on their HL level(P<0.01). Among the non-medical students, female and medicine related optional courses had a positive effect on their HL level(P<0.05). Students in the sophomore year had a negative effect on their HL level(P<0.05). CONCLUSION: There is a big difference in the level of HL between medical students and non-medical students. Medical college students and non-medical college students have different factors affecting HL, medical education is related to improving HL.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To provide reference for ensuring the medication safety of rural residents well.METHODS:A questionnaire survey was conducted among 162 rural residents of 27 townships in 11 counties (districts) from Yongzhou city of Hunan province. The survey data was analyzed statistically.RESULTS:A total of 5 670 questionnaires were issued and 4 376 valid questionnaires were recovered, with an effective recovery rate of 77.2%.73.6% residents did not considered the incompatibility among drugs when receiving two or more drugs;the proportion of increasing or decreasing drug dosage and changing drugs at will was in high level. Most of the residents who had common drugs in the family did not pay enough attention to the custody of the reserved drugs and lacked of basic knowledge;the proportion of residents who bought drugs mainly from pharmacies was the highest (50.7%);in addition, nearly 20% bought drugs mainly through the Intemet and other ways.More than half of the residents surveyed did not understand the drug instructions;after ADR occurred, more than half of the residents surveyed would stop or change their drugs voluntarily;more than 70% of the residents surveyed did not know or did not pay attention to characteristics and incompatibility of drugs.CONCLUSIONS:Because of the low level of education, the lack of common sense of safe drug use in local rural residents and unbalanced allocation of medical resources, the phenomenon of irrational drug use is widespread and the safety of medication is not ideal;there is a lot of room for improvement.

ABSTRACT

Objective To find simple and effective methods of preservation for Achromobacter xylosoxidans bacteriophages. Methods The plaque forming unit( PFU) of surviving phages under different preservation conditions and temperatures at different time points was determined. Results and Conclusion The titers of phiAxp-1 and phiAxp-2 main-tained at the initial 1010 PFU/ml, and that of phiAxp-3 decreased slightly from 1011 PFU/ml to 1010 PFU/ml 16 months after the three Achromobacter xylosoxidans bacteriophages were stored in glycerol and dimethyl sulfoxide at -80℃, -20℃and 4℃.When stored in chloroform at 4℃for 16 months, the titers of all the three phages decreased slightly but were higher than at other temperatures (-80℃, -20℃, room temperature, and 37℃) .Thus these methods can effectively preserve Achromobacter xylosoxidans bacteriophages.

ABSTRACT

Objective Using M2-Gi1α fusion protein expressed by baculovirus-Sf9 cell system to find the specific ligand for M2 receptor and detect the interaction of the two parts of the fusion protein. Methods The fused M2-Gi1α cDNAs were generated in a two-step PCR and then expressed in Sf9 cells.[3H]QNB and[35S]GTPγS binding experiments were employed to study the function of M2-Gi1α fusion protein. Results The expression level of M2-Gi1α fusion protein was 8.44±0.39 nmol·g-1 protein. The affinity of GDP to the Gi1α part changed under the affection of different ligands. The IC50 value in the appearance of acetylcholine, oxotremorine, arecoline, atropine, fangchinoline, levitimide were 21.35 μmol·L-1,23.86 μmol·L-1,11.91 μmol·L-1,0.13 μmol·L-1,1.05 μmol·L-1,1.75 μmol·L-1,and 2.5 μmol·L-1 when there was no ligand. Conclusion The M2-Gi1α fusion protein expressed in baculovirus-Sf9 cell system has pharmacological specificity for M2 receptor and the efficient coupling function between the two parts. The M2-Gi1αfusion protein is a helpful tool for detecting the new specific ligands of the M2 receptor.

ABSTRACT

Aim To generate m3AChR-G11 fusion protein in baculovirus-Sf9 cells and test the couping function, the interation and the influence factors be-tween m3AChR and G11 protein,as well as screen the specific ligands for m3AChR. Methods m3AChR-G11 fused DNA was generated through a two-step PCR and then expressed in Sf9 cells to produce fusion protein. The total concentration for membrane protein was de-tected by BCA method,[3H]QNB and [35 S]GTP?S binding experiment as perfomed to study the function of m3AChR-G11 fusion protein. Results The expression level of m3AChR-G11 was 7. 76 ? 10 -9 mol?g -1. The affinity of GDP to G11 partner changed in the presence of different muscarinic ligands. IC50 values of GDP in the presence of ACh,Pilo,CCh,MCN-A-343,Atro,4-Damp and Dafi were 82. 2,93. 70,12. 10,14. 30, 1. 93,1. 37,0. 72 ? 10 -6 mol ? L -1 respectively, and that in the absence of muscarinic was 1. 99 ? 10 -6 mol ?L-1.Concluslons The m3AChR-G11 fusion protein has the pharmacological specificity of m3 receptor and the efficient coupling interaction of the two partners. Affinity of GDP to ligand-bound fusion protein represents the species of muscarinic ligands. This is helpful in screening and detecting the new specific ligands to muscarinic receptors.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the effects of complex polysaccharides immune milk (CPIM) on cellular and humoral immune functions in mice. Method Sixty ICR mice were divided into five experimental groups and a control group. The mice in experimental groups were given i.p. Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharide (GLP) immune milk,Lycium barbarum polysaccharides (LBP) immune milk and different doses (low, medium and high) CPIM,and the control group was given equivalently skimmed and sterilized goat's milk respectively for 15 d. The cellular and humoral immune functions and the feces were examined. Results Transformation ability of spleen lymphocytes:There were highly marked differences between all experimental groups and control group, between medium dose group of CPIM and GLB group,LBP group (P
