ABSTRACT
The [Spider] intraocular glass lens, designed by the author, comes in two sizes, 12.5 mm and 13.5 mm, and two powers, +19 and +21 diopters. It has been successfully implanted with good results after intracapsular or extracapsular cataract extraction in many Asian countries

The authors have used 2% methylcellulose in 8000 cases of intraocular lens implant surgery during the last five and a half years. From their experience and investigations they conclude that it is safe, effective and economical. It is easily autoclavable, has very low particulate matter when prepared by the authors' technique, and causes minimal secondary rise of intraocular pressure. The endothelial protective function and breakdown of blood aqueous barrier are comparable to Healon. The authors consider methylcellulose to be a better alternative for intraocular lens implant surgery
