ABSTRACT

Evidence of the existence of a special decodifier on the effector cells, with which inductor substances must interact in order to trigger their characteristic responses, has been found since the beginning of the century. These cytoplasmic sites are able to recognize, accept and receive the massage transmitted by the inductor substance, giving rise to a specific cell response. Thus, the inductor-receptor binding complex interaction at the cellular level may alter permeability to ions as happens with neurotransmitters, or can trigger ponocytosis in the case of apolipoproteins. Cellular receptors have been involved in the mechanism of action of several drugs and its dysfunction explains the physiopathology of a number of diseases. This may involve diminished clathrin protein synthesis triggering a defect in affinity, such as seen in malnutrition. It is also applicable in genetic distrurbances, which are capable of precluding receptor development as in cases of familiar hypercholesterolemia

ABSTRACT

La influencia que ejerce el sistema nervioso central (SNC), sobre la función respiratoria, depende de la integridad funcional de estructuras periféricas y centrales, que al procesar la información, controlan no sólo los movimientos de la respiración, sino la ssecreción, el calibre bronquial y la función de los sistemas reológicos del pulmón. Durante el envejecimiento, las alteraciones que sufre la neurona, repercuten drásticamente en la función respiratoria, como sucede con la incapacidad de la unidad inducto-receptora, no sólo para recibir el mensaje de la substancia inductora, sino para procesaarlo, evitando con ello, una respuesta celular adecuada; o bien, la degeneración de las células de Schwann, las que al perder su capacidad funcional y disminuir la producción de mielina, alteran la conducción del estímulo tanto aferente como aferente, provocado severo problemas respiratorios, que en un paciente de edad avanzada, pueden culminar con la muerte
