Cirurgia de catarata: cirurgia simples? / Cataract surgery: easy surgery?

A catarata é definida como qualquer opacificação do cristalino. O tratamento disponível é o cirúrgico em que a técnica de facoemulsificação é a mais empregada. O objetivo deste trabalho é refletir sobre a banalização da cirurgia de catarata e explicar suas dificuldades técnicas e suas complicações.

Cataract is defined as any opacification of the lens. The available treatment is the surgery in which phacoemulsification is the most common technique. The objective of this paper is to discuss the vulgarization of the cataract surgery, by showing its complications and the difficulties of the procedure itself.
