ABSTRACT

An observational longitudinal and prospective study was conducted in 93 type II diabetic patients attended in José Martí Pérez University Polyclinic from the urban center with the same name by the Basic Working Group A, from February 2010 to February 2011, in order to determine their skin conditions, as well as nutritional state, metabolic control, tobacco and alcohol consumption. The prevalence of the superficial mycoses as diagnosis, smoking habit and alcoholism as toxic habits, and overweight were among the main results, which led to the statement that in patients with those characteristics follow-up should be intensified, since they tended to experience metabolic disorders.
