ABSTRACT

The glyphosate is a non-selective herbicide used in the agricultural world-wide. The glyphosate exposure may induce health damage: tecidual changes, malformations, toxicity and maternal-fetal mortality, respiratory changes, cellular changes, leakage of hepatic enzymes, citotoxicity, and generate sexual behavior alterations. The objective this study was to evaluate the sub-chronic exposure of the glyphosate, during 30 days, in female and male rats, trated orally with 250 or 500 mg/kg/day or water, as control, in estrous cycle and sexual behavior. The collection of vaginal secretion was performed in the days 5; 10; 15; 20; 25 and 30. The sexual behavior was evaluated by lordose and mount number for females, and number and latency to mounth, ejaculations and intromissions for males. The results showed estrous cycle alteration and lordose number reduction maybe associated to the glyphosate effects, generating females rats stress and altering the estrous cycle.
