O termo cárie oculta vem sendo utilizado para descrever lesões de cárie em dentina sob superfícies de esmalte aparentemente hígidas ou minimamente desmineralizadas. The term hidden caries is used to describe carious lesions in dentine under apparently sound enamel surface or minimum desmineralized one.
