ABSTRACT
Este artigo aborda questões referentes à representação social da Psicologia e do psicólogo, especificamente, em relação aos usuários que se encontravam na sala de espera da clínica-escola do Centro Universitário Franciscano, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. Para a coleta de dados, foram utilizados como instrumento questionários que objetivam o conhecimento de opiniões, crenças, sentimentos, interesses e expectativas. Os questionários foram submetidos à análise de conteúdo. Os resultados apontam que há dificuldades em se estabelecerem diferenças entre a Psicologia e o psicólogo, descrevendo ambos como tendo uma função assistencialista, que ajuda e entende os problemas de ordem psicológica. This article is a result of a qualitative study the approach of which deals with issues that refer to the social representation of Psychology and the psychologist, specifically related to the users who were encountered in the waiting room of the teaching-clinic of the Centro Universitário Franciscano, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. A questionnaire was used for data collection, with the aim of investigating the opinions, beliefs, feelings, interests, and expectations of these subjects. The responses were analyzed using content analysis as the framework. The results showed that there were difficulties in establishing differences between Psychology and the psychologist, as they are both described as having a care function to help and understand psychological issues.
