ABSTRACT
Objetivo: Evaluar la satisfacción estética, funcional y económica generada por la rehabilitación con prótesis parcial removible con arco convencional y arco corto en pacientes mayores de 50 años en la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de El Salvador. Metodología: Es una investigación de tipo descriptiva transversal comparativa, en la que se comparó la satisfacción funcional, estética y económica, entre dos líneas de tratamiento restaurativos. La población fue de 40 pacientes divididos en 2 grupos de 20 cada uno arriba de 50 años evaluados en el mes de Agosto del 2014. Para recolectar los datos se utilizó un cuestionario dirigido a evaluar los niveles de satisfacción en los grupos de pacientes que usan prótesis parcial removible y arco corto. Se elaboraron tablas estadísticas descriptivas para determinar la relación de las variables. Resultados: El 72.5% (29 pacientes)del total de pacientes se encuentran satisfechos funcionalmente de los cuales 95% (19 pacientes) se encuentran satisfechos con su prótesis parcial removible y el 50% (10 pacientes) con arco corto. Estéticamente se encuentran satisfechos 70% (28pacientes), de los cuales el 90% (18 pacientes) con prótesis parcial removible y el 50 % con arco corto (10 pacientes). Con el costo económico el 65% (26 pacientes) se encontraba satisfecho. 45% (9 pacientes) con prótesis parcial removible y 95% (19 pacientes) con arco corto. 85% (17pacientes) de pacientes se encontraban satisfechos en forma general con su prótesis y 55% (11 pacientes) con arco corto. Conclusiones: Se presenta una alta satisfacción funcional y estética en pacientes con uso de prótesis parcial removible. Donde se demostró que la prótesis parcial removible presenta un índice que oscila entre el 90 y 95% en satisfacción funcional y estética. Para el arco corto se mostró una superioridad en cuanto a la satisfacción del 95% en costos. De forma general con su tratamiento el 85% está satisfecho con sus prótesis removibles y un 55% con arco corto.

Descriptive Statistical tables were elaborated to determinate the relation between the variables. Results: 72.5% (29 patients) of the patients were functionallysatisfied of which 95% (19 patients) are satisfied with their removable partial denture and 50% (10 patients) with short arc. Esthetically 70% are satisfied (28 patients), of which 90% (18 patients) with removable partial dentures and 50% with short arc (10 patients). Conclusions: A high functional and esthetic satisfaction in patients using removable partial denture is presented. Where it was shown that the removable partial denture has an index that ranges between 90 and 95% in functional and esthetic satisfaction.For the short arc a 95% of satisfaction in costs is shown. In general 85% are satisfied with their treatment with removable dentures and 55% with short arc.
