Spectrophotometric method for the estimation of omeprazole in tablet dosage forms

Two simple and sensitive Spectrophotometric Methods [A and B] for the determination of Omeprazole in bulk samples and pharmaceutical formulations are described. Method A is based on the reduction of Folin-ciocalteu's reagent [FC Reagent]. Method B is based on oxidative coupling of drug with methyl-1, 2, benzothiazole hydrazones [MBTH]. The light blue colour found in method A absorbs at 375 nm and reddish brown colour produced in method B absorbs at 430 nm
