Consensus of experts on the medical risk prevention for the patients with cardiovascular diseases during dental treatment (2022 edition) / 中华口腔医学杂志

With the aging process of population in the society, the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in China is increasing continuously and the number of dental patients with CVD is increasing gradually too. Due to the lack of guidelines for dental patients with CVD in our country, how to implement standardized preoperative evaluation and perioperative risk prevention remains a problem to be solved for dentists at present. The present expert consensus was reached by combining the clinical experiences of the expert group of the Fifth General Dentistry Special Committee, Chinese Stomatological Association and respiratory and cardiology experts in diagnosis and treatment for CVD patients, and by systematically summarizing the relevant international guidelines and literature regarding the relationship between CVD and oral diseases and the diagnosis and treatment of dental patients with heart failure, hypertension and antithrombotic therapy. The consensus aims to provide, for the dental clinicians, the criteria on diagnosis and treatment of CVD in dental patients in China so as to reduce the risk and complications, and finally to improve the treatment levels of dental patients with CVD in China.

Consensus of experts on the oral health management and medical risk prevention for the patients with chronic airway diseases (2022 edition) / 中华口腔医学杂志

Today, there is greater awareness on the association between oral diseases and respiration diseases after the outbreak of COVID-19. However, confusion regarding the oral health management and medical risk prevention for patients with chronic airway diseases has been remained among dental clinicians. Therefore, the dental experts of the Fifth General Dentistry Special Committee, Chinese Stomatological Association, combined with the experts of respiratory and critical care medicine, undertook the formation of consensus on the oral health management of patients with chronic airway diseases in order to help dental clinicians to evaluate medical risks and make better treatment decision in clinical practice. In the present consensus report, the relationship of oral diseases and chronic airway diseases, the oral health management and the treatment recommendations of patients with chronic airway diseases are provided.

Research of cranio-occlusional change of skeletal class III malocclusion in permanent dentition treated by the multiloop edgewise arch wire technique / 华西口腔医学杂志

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To analyze the mechanics in correction of skeletal class III malocclusion with Multiloop Edgewise Arch Wire (MEAW).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>15 patients with skeletal class III malocclusion were treated with MEAW technique. Cephalometric analysis was performed with pre-treatment and post-treatment cephalograms. Paired t-test was conducted to assess the treatment effects.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>L6-XI decreased by 2.87 mm, L6/MP increased by 8.60 degrees, L1-XI decreased by 2.60 mm, OP/MP increased by 2.33 degrees. Skeleton changed a little. There was no significant change in the soft tissue.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>(1) Dento-alveolar compensation is the main change after the treatment by MEAW technique; (2) The improvement in molar relationship and overjet is achieved with upright and distal movement of the lower posterior teeth; (3) The lower anterior teeth moved lingually and protracted. Occlusal plane is flattened.</p>

A study on the lingual shape and position of the teeth in Chinese with normal occlusion / 中华口腔医学杂志

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To measure the lingual surfaces of the teeth in normal occlusion and obtain the data for lingual brackets' bonding and modifying for Chinese.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>50 casts of nonorthodontic subjects with ideal occlusion were examined using the YM-2115 3D measurement instrument. The data was calculated by the relevant software and analysed statistically.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The reference values of the lingual surfaces of the teeth in normal occlusion were obtained. These include crown angulation(tip), crown inclination(torque), offset angles of molars and crown facial prominence.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Compared with the data of foreigners, the characteristics of the lingual surface of the teeth in Chinese normal occlusion has many differences. The accurate placement of the lingual orthodontic brackets should be assisted by laboratory techniques because of the highly variable morphology of the lingual surfaces of the teeth.</p>
