ABSTRACT
Este trabalho é fruto de uma pesquisa teórica sobre o ex-voto e suas repercussões na construção das subjetividades, considerando os referenciais da antropologia de Mauss e da psicanálise freudiana. A partir da contextualização da prática votiva e seus significados para o devoto e sua comunidade, entendemos o imaginário religioso como fonte de sentidos para o sujeito em padecimento, revelando formas típicas à cultura popular de compreensão dos vínculos sociais e das condições materiais de vida. Concluímos que, frente ao pathos que fundamenta o humano, o sujeito em sofrimento reage buscando cura e salvação para seus males pela intercessão de poderes superiores ligados ao sagrado. Apesar da não-implicação subjetiva no processo de vida, percebemos que os vínculos sociais forjados pelas obrigações de dar, receber e retribuir constituem uma ética, acolhendo o sujeito e sua comunidade em uma rede social propiciadora de sentidos às vicissitudes da existência.
This work is the result of a theoretical research on the ex-voto (Latin: in conformity with a promise) and its repercussions in the construction of subjectivities, considering the benchmarks of the anthropology of Mauss and Freudian psychoanalysis. From the context of the votive practice and its meanings to the devout and his community, we view the religious imagery as a source of senses to the subject who is suffering, showing the typical forms of popular culture of understanding the social ties and the material conditions of life. We conclude that, facing the pathos that substantiates the human being, the person who is suffering reacts seeking for cure and salvation for his ills through the intersection of superior powers linked to the sacred. Despite of the subjective non-involvement in the process of life, we realize that the social ties forged by the obligations of giving, receiving and returning constitute ethics, welcoming the subject in a social network that provides senses to the vicissitudes of existence.

Este estudo investigou as representações do corpo mediadas pelas crenças religiosas e pelos saberes e práticas populares quanto aos processos de saúde e de doença a partir do ex-voto, sendo ressaltados os lugares da experiência corporal na constituição da singularidade e do laço social, acentuando a figura corporal nos objetos doados como agradecimento de curas de problemas ocasionados por patologias ou por acidentes físicos. Discutimos acerca dos sentidos de corpo figurados nos ex-votos privilegiando as concepções psicanalíticas nas interfaces com a antropologia. A metodologia utilizada consistiu em um estudo qualitativo sem fins de generalização estatística, sendo aprovada pelo Comitê de Ética. Foram entrevistados, através de um roteiro semi-estruturado, cinco devotos de São Francisco de Assis que praticavam a oferenda de ex-votos, sendo abordados pelos pesquisadores nas proximidades da Basílica de São Francisco de Assis em Canindé-CE. Os relatos foram analisados de acordo com a abordagem de Bardin. Com fins de delimitação metodológica, neste artigo é abordada a corporeidade na prática votiva, privilegiando as representações de corpo que os devotos constroem e expressam nos objetos-oferendas. O acento de nossa reflexão recaiu na consideração dos investimentos em diferentes partes do corpo e suas implicações nos modos de representar o adoecer pela prática votiva, privilegiando a corporeidade.
This study investigated the representations of the body mediated by religious beliefs and by popular knowledge and practices regarding the processes of health and disease from the ex-voto, focusing on the parts of the body experience in the formation of the singularity and the social bond, accentuating the body figure in the objects donated as thanks for cures of diseases or problems caused by physical accidents. We discussed the meanings of the bodies figured as ex-votos, favoring the psychoanalytical ideas in the interfaces with anthropology. The methodology consisted of a qualitative study with no interest in statistical generalization, being approved by the Ethics Committee. Five devotees of São Francisco de Assis who practiced the giving of ex-votos were interviewed making use of a semi-structured script. They were approached by researchers in the vicinity of the Basílica de São Francisco de Assis in Canindé-CE. The reports were analyzed according to Bardin's approach. With the purpose of methodological delimitation, this article deals with corporeity in the votive practice, focusing on body representations that devotees build up and express with the offering objects. The stress of our reflection has fallen on account of investments in different parts of the body and its implications on the ways of representing the lack of health with votive practice, focusing on the corporeity.
