ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effect of Yang-warming and Qi-tonifying Recipe (YQP)on aquaporin 3(AQP3) and AQP8 in rats with slow transit constipation, and to explore its therapeutic mechanism. Methods Forty rats were randomly divided into modeling group(N=30)and normal control group(N = 10). After successful modeling by gastric gavage of loperamide, the modeled rats were randomly divided into model group,YQP group and Mosapride group,10 rats in each group, and were separately treated with corresponding medicine for 2 weeks. After treatment, the colonic transit function was measured by carbon propelling test. The protein levels of AQP3 and AQP8 were detected by immunohistochemistry and their mRNA expression levels were detected with real-time fluorescence polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). Results Compared with the normal control group, the propelling rate of carbon particle in the model group was decreased, and the protein and mRNA expression levels of AQP3 and AQP8 were significantly increased(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the propelling rate of carbon particle of YQP group and mosapride group was significantly increased, and the protein and mRNA expression levels of AQP3 and AQP8 were significantly decreased (P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between YQP group and mosapride group (P >0.05). Conclusion YQP had therapeutic effects on loperamide-induced constipation through decreasing the expression of AQP3 and AQP8 in the intestine, reducing the reabsorption of intestinal fluid, and increasing the fecal water content.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the abdomen CT characteristics of patients with ischemic bowel disease (ICBD).Methods CT imaging data of ICBD patients from January 2008 to December 2013 in the Chinese PLA General Hospital were retrospectively analyzed to find CT imaging features in intestinal lesions associated with ICBD death. Results In CT imaging analysis,151 patients including acute superior mesenteric artery thromboembolism (ASMATE,n=51),acute superior mesenteric vein thrombosis (ASMVT,n=53),non-occlusive mesenteric ischemia (NOMI,n=8),chronic mesenteric ischemia (CMI,n=10) and ischemic colitis (IC,n=29) were divided into survival group (n=115) and death group (n=36).In comparison with the survival group, the death group had higher incidence of abdomenal effusion, portomesenteric gas, pneumatosis intestinalis and pneumoperitoneum (P<0.001,P<0.001,P<0.001,P=0.003).Conclusion The ascites, portomesenteric vein gas, pneumatosis intestinalis and pneumoperitoneum in bowel CT may be associated with the death of ICBD patients.

ABSTRACT

Liver resection is the most efficiency measure to treat the liver cancer at present. About 80% patients with liver cancer encounter inordinately hepatocirrhosis. The regeneration of liver tissue in the patients with hepatocirrhosis is poor, liver functional reserve reduces, those patients with liver cancer combined with hepotocirrhosis will face greater risks when they receive hepatoectomy. Liver failure is the leading cause of death after hepatic resection. So we must attach importance to the assessment of liver functional reserve before operation. Here this article mostly summarizes the comprehensive assessment of hepatic functional reserve before operation in liver cancer patients.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo investigate the association of thrombin activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI) and its encoding gene CPB2 polymorphism in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD).

METHODSThe CPB2 gene polymorphisms of Thr325Ile and Thr147Ala were analyzed with polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) in patients of acute myocardial infarction (n=100), acute angina pectoris (n=110) and a control group (n=190). The antigen (Ag) and activity (Act) of the TAFI were determined by sandwich enzyme link immunosorbent assay specific for human TAFI and chromogenic assay for activated human TAFI in plasma, respectively. The relationship between Thr325Ile and Thr147Ala gene polymorphism and TAFI Ag and Act were also analyzed.

RESULTSPlasma TAFI Act and TAFI Ag in acute myocardial infarction group and acute angina pectoris group (CHD patients group) were both significantly higher than those of the control group. The genotype frequencies of Thr325Ile (C1040T) and Thr147Ala (G505A) were as the following: C1040C (Thr325Thr) 67 (31.9%) and 64 (33.6%); C1040T (Thr325Ile) 109 (51.9%) and 92 (48.4%); T1040T (Ile325Ile) 34 (16.2%) and 34(17.8%); G505G (Ala147 Ala) 75 (35.7%) and 72 (37.8%); G505A(Thr147Ala) 112 (53.3%) and 96 (50.5%); A505A(Thr147Thr)23 (10.9%) and 22 (11.7%), in the CHD patients and control respectively. Chi-square analysis showed no significant difference in the Thr325Ile and Thr147Ala polymorphism distributions (P > 0.05). In addition, at the 325 position, the TAFI antigen of the Thr325Thr was higher than that of the other genotypes (Thr325Ile and Ile325Ile, P < 0.05). There was no statistical significance between the TAFI antigen of the Thr325Ile and Ile325Ile (P > 0.05). No significant correlation was found between the TAFI Act and the Thr325Ile polymorphism. At the position 147, significant correlation between the polymorphism of the Thr147Ala and TAFI Ag and Act was not found.

CONCLUSIONTAFI plays an important role in anti-fibrinolysis. It might be a risk factor for acute myocardial infarction and acute angina pectoris. The Thr325Ile polymorphism had obvious effect on TAFI antigen levels, but the Thr325Ile and Thr147Ala polymorphism had no association with coronary heart disease.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo verify the effects of treatment with blood transfusion and scopolamine on severe chlorphenamidine poisoning (SCP).

METHODS400 patients with severe oral chlorphenamidine poisoning were randomly divided into two groups. 200 patients (Group I) were treated with the traditional combined therapy including gastrolavage, purgation and taking redox agent (methylene blue and vitamin C) while the other 200 patients (Group II) in addition to the above mentioned therapy, received blood transfusion and scopolamine injection.

RESULTSThe cure rate of Group II was 99.5% and significantly higher than that of Group I (91.0%, P < 0.01). The average time of improving in health in Group II [(8.71 +/- 1.49) h] was obviously shorter than those in Group I [(10.65 +/- 1.72) h, P < 0.01]. Blood methemoglobin concentrations in Group II at 3, 7, 12, 24 h after admission [(43.58 +/- 2.69), (34.21 +/- 2.30), (20.60 +/- 4.03), (13.50 +/- 1.65) g/L respectively] were obviously lower than those in Group I [(54.42 +/- 12.79), (42.17 +/- 22.34), (30.66 +/- 17.67), (19.01 +/- 0.61) g/L respectively, P < 0.01].

CONCLUSIONBlood transfusion and scopolamine had distinctive therapeutic effect on SCP to makeup the deficiency of redox agent. Combination of three therapies may potentiate the detoxication for chlorphenamidine.
