Influência do mês e ano do parto e do grupamento genético sobre a idade ao primeiro parto, intervalo de partos e número de crias de vacas Red Poli x Zebu, no Estado de São Paulo / Effects of month and year of calving and genetic group on age at first calving, calving intervals and number of calving in Red Poli x Zebu cows in the State of São Paulo, Brazil

Os dados utilizados referem-se a 884 registros de idade ao primeiro parto (IPP) e de número de crias por vaca (NC) e 4.540 registros de intervalo de partos (IDP) de fêmeas mestiças Red Poli x Zebu, criadas na Fazenda Três Barras em Pitangueiras, Estado de São Paulo, durante o período de 1955 a 1971. As médias gerais das características estudadas foram: 43,7 meses (C.V. = 20,5%) para IPP; 6,1 (C.V. = 47,6%) para NC e 429 dias (C.V.= 25%) para IDP. As análises de variância mostraram influências significativas de mês, ano do parto e grupo genético para IPP e IDP. O NC foi afetado pela IPP e pelo IDP.

The data utilized in this study reter to 884 records of age at first calving and number of calves per cow and 4540 records of calving intervals of crossed Red Poli X Zebu cows raised at Três Barras Farm, Pitangueiras, State of São Paulo, obtained during the period 1955/1971. The overall means were 43,7 months (C.V.= 20.5%) for age at first calving, 6,1 (C.V.= 4.6%) for the number of calves per cow and 429 days (C.V.= 25%) for the calving intervals. The analysis of variance showed the following significant effects: month and year of calving and genetic group for age at first calving and calving intervals; age at first calv-ing and mean calving interval effect for the number of calving per cow.

Toxicidade de crioprotetores em embriões de pacu Piaractus mesopotamicus / Cryoprotectant toxicity to pacu embryos Piaractus mesopotamicus

Embriões de pacu Piaractus mesopotamicus foram submetidos a sete tratamentos, com o objetivo de se testar a toxicidade de 2 crioprotetores: glicerol e dimetilsulfóxido (DMSO), e suas associações à sacarose, a temperatura ambiente de 28°C. Nenhum embrião sobreviveu aos tratamentos contendo glicerol. O DMSO foi o crioprotetor que apresentou menor toxicidade aos embriões de pacu.

Fish embryos Piaractus mesopotamicus were submetted to seven treatments to test. the toxicity of two cryoprotectants: glicerol and dimethilfoxidy (DMSO), and its associations with sucrose, at 28°C. There were no survival in treatments containing glicerol. DMSO was the cryoprotectant hat show little toxicity to the embryos.

Idade ao primeiro parto, intervalo de partos e peso ao nascimento de um rebanho nelore / Age at first calving, calving intervals and birth weight in Nelore (zebu) cattle bred

Os dados utilizados no presente estudo, referem-se a 129 registros de idade ao primeiro parto (IPP), 789 registros de intervalos de partos (IEP) e a 793 registros de pesos ao nascimento (PN). As médias gerais para IPP, IEP e PN foram respectivamente 1234 dias, 466 dias e 29,4kg. Dos efeitos fixos estudados, tiveram influência significativa sobre a IPP, o quinquênio do parto, sobre o IEP, o ano de nascimento e a ordem do parto sobre o PN, o ano de nascimento e sexo do produto. As estimativas de herdabilidade para IPP, IEP e PN foram, respectivamente: 0,35, 0,08 e 0,05.

The data used in this study are record from 129 Age at First Calving (AFC), 789 Calving lntervals (CI) and 793 Birth Weight (BW). General means for AFC, CI, and BW were 1234 days, 466 days and 29,4kg, respectively. The following fixed effects had significative influence: a) year period of calving on Age at First Calving; b) year of birth and calving arder on Calving lntervals; c) year of birth and sex of calf on Birth Weigth. Estimates for heritability for AFC, Cl and BW were 0.35, 0.08 and 0.05, respectively.
