ABSTRACT
O objetivo desse estudo foi investigar a percepção das atletas de basquete feminino sobre a competição esportiva em dois contextos contrastantes: Festival Jamboree e Campeonato da Liga Regional. Foram avaliadas dezoito atletas entre dez e treze anos através de uma entrevista que foi gravada e posteriormente transcrita. A analise das entrevistas foi feita utilizando-se os procedimentos propostos por Milles e Huberman. Quanto aos sistemas de disputa as atletas pontuaram que o Festival Jamboree se difere do Campeonato da Liga Regional em termos de organização, filosofia, contatos com outras atletas, forma de jogo e também pelo aspecto lúdico do festival em contraste com o modelo de competição tradicional. A compreensão dos sentimentos e comportamentos percebidos tanto em um sistema quanto outro é uma avenida importante na pesquisa sobre os aspectos relacionados com a manutenção do interesse pela modalidade e a permanência na prática esportiva.
The aim of this study was to investigate the perception of women's basketball players on the sports competition in two contrasting contexts: Jamboree Festival and Regional League Championship. Eighteen athletes between the ages of ten and thirteen years old were evaluated through an interview process. The interviews were recorded and later transcribed. An analysis of the interviews was done utilizing a procedure proposed by Miles and Huberman. The athletes argued that the Jamboree Festival differs from the Regional League Championship in the aspects of organization, philosophy, athlete interaction, and a ludic way of playing the game in contrast to the traditional competition. The understanding of the feelings and behaviors of athletes in both methods of competition is an importantavenue for studying the interests of young athletes and the practice of sports.
