ABSTRACT

The present study is aimed at studying the various types, patterns and their percentages of incidences of anomalies of hand and associated with any other anomalies in district of Bangalore. A four years study was done in Bangalore district Bangalore. from 2007—2011. This fours years study was done on 1257 males 743 females of human hands for the presence of any anomalies .Out of them, only forty subjects had anomalies of hand ranging from new born to adult age group. Each case, a detailed history of family, personal history past history of drug intake in first trimester associated with any other anomalies were taken..Later relevant investigations were done for those subjects who had anomalies of hand. Then were ,grouped and photographed The subjects were classified into 5 groups as follows:Group-1,-Those subjects who had extra digits not involving the thumb(37.5%)--Post axial type polydactyly. Group-2,Those subject who had involvement of thumb(30.00%)…Preaxial type polydactyly.Group-3,Those subjects who had fusion of digits(27.5%),….Syndactyly. Group-4,Those subjects massive enlargement of thumb only(2.5%)…Macrodactyly .Group-5,Those subjects who had absence of fingers associated without shortening of limb .Most of the anomalies can be corrected surgically except those in cases of macrodactyly and absence of fingers Hence this study gives us knowledge of various types of anomalies hand not only to the Anatomists but also to plastic surgeons and to orthopedicians Hence it has been studied and reported.

ABSTRACT

AIM: Aim of the present study is to know the presence and their percentages of incidences of various patterns of calcaneal articular facets in human tali. PLACE OF STUDY: Department of Anatomy of Sree Dev Raj Urs Medical College, Tamaka, Kolar, Karnataka, India. PERIOD OF STUDY: It is a study of two years of 1996-97 and 1997-98 batches of students. METHODS AND MATERIALS: Two hundred and forty unknown, dry human tali possessed from the bone sets of students of above batches constituted the materials for the study during the above period. They were carefully examined for articular facets and classified into five groups. Observations: The present study on human tali revealed five types articular facets .They are Type-1 were observed in 10% (in 24 tali), similarly Type-2 in 50% (120 tali), Type-3 in 16.66% (40 tali), Type-4 in 5.00% (12 tali), Type-5 in 18.41% (44 tali). Later they were well compared and correlated with available literatures. CONCLUSION: This study on human tali has revealed the type of gait, and walking habits and weight bearing bone that has given rise to various articular facets. Hence it has been studied and reported.

ABSTRACT

Fifty adult dry human tali from the Department of anatomy, Nepalgunj Medical College Chisapani, were studied. Observations were made on different types of articular facets of calcaneus for the tali. They were classified into four groups and their percentages of incidences were calculated. These findings were well correlated and compared with the literatures available.

ABSTRACT

The present study has been carried out in fifty-one adult human skulls for metopic sutures in the department of anatomy, Nepalgunj Medical College, Chisapani. Metopic sutures were found in six skulls (11.46%) This study showed higher incidences of incomplete metopic sutures (7.84%). One skull showed double incomplete sutures (one to right of bregma and other in the middle of the frontal bone in the mid line), which was of, a very rare variety seen in frontal bone of (1.96%), three skulls showed incomplete sutures (3.92%). Though the number of the skulls was small, the study showed a rare morphological variety, which was well correlated with earlier workers.
