ABSTRACT

Human seminal plasma contains male inhibitory material (MIM) and ther suppressive factors which prevent the induction of immune reaction to sperm and seminal plasma. In this paper, the MIM was purified from li(?)uified healthy human ejaculates by Sephadex G-100 filtration. As previously shown, five peaks were isolated and only one band was demonstrated on SDS-PAGE in fraction 1 (MIMF-1). MIMF-(?) was found to have inhibitory effect on immune response to sRBC in mice as detected by haemolytic plaque method in vitro, and also be able to reduce the antibody titers to sRBC in murine serum. The possible relationship between immune suppression caused by MIMF- 1 and hypersensitivity to seminal fluid or sterity was strongly suggested.

ABSTRACT

In this paper, immunosuppression ofNK activity induced by(1)Human se-minal Plasma(HSP)and its Fraction-1 on sephadex G-100 in vitro;(2)in-travenous injection of HSP,Fraction-1 or mice sperm and(3)uptake of HSP,Fraction-1 or,mice sperm via rectalroute were studied. It has been pro-ved by our experiment that HSP,Fraction-1 and mice sperm possesspotent immunosuppressive effect interm of NK activity inhibition.Ascompared with intravenous injection, the immunosuppression induced byrectal exposure of HSP,Fraction-1or mice sperm is much stronger

ABSTRACT

Changes in IL-2/IL-2R system in 25 patients with thyrotoxic Graves disease and 20 eu-thyroids were investigated and compared with those of 15 normal controls. The thyrotoxic patients showed a high concentration of serum sIL-2R and a large amount of circulating IL-2R-?- cells but a decreased production of IL-2 by PBMC. However, these abnormalities had a tendency to become normal with improvement of the disease. The IL-2 was correlated with the percentage of IL-2R-?- cells and sIL-2R. This study may provide clues to the im-munopathogenesis in Graves Disease.
