ABSTRACT
El hecho de que en distintos momentos de la historia las mujeres tuvieran la exclusividad de estudiar Enfermería se debió tanto a factores culturales como políticos. Se suponía que las mujeres poseían el "don natural" del cuidado y por tanto su inserción laboral debía estar ligada a tareas que estuvieran a su disposición. Esta naturalización de la asociación entre la mujer y la Enfermería es el resultado de un proceso histórico pocas veces cuestionado y su vigencia en la actualidad explica por qué, todavía, los varones que eligen estudiar y ejercer la Enfermería siguen siendo un cuerpo minoritario (AU)
The fact that at different times in history women had the exclusivity of studying Nursing was due both to cultural and political factors. It was assumed that women have the "natural gift" of care and therefore their job insertion should be linked to tasks that were available to them. This naturalization of the association between the woman and the Nursing is the result of a historical process rarely questioned and its validity in actuality explains why, still, men who choose to study and practice Nursing remain a minority body (AU)
