ABSTRACT
Resumen: La infección del tracto urinario (ITU) en pacientes pediátricos es una enfermedad común. A todos los niños con infección urinaria febril se recomienda someterse a estudios de imagen en busca de infección renal, cicatrices renales o anomalías del tracto urinario. Los estudios de imagen no son agradables para los niños y originan estrés en los padres y su aporte en la fase aguda es mínimo. Las pruebas de imagen deberían estar sustentadas en las guías NICE de ITU que intentar demostrar que uno de los pilares más importantes para evitar las secuelas renales es el diagnóstico oportuno y un tratamiento eficaz. Abstract: Urinary tract infection (UTI) pediatric patients is a common disease. All the children with febril UTI were recommended to undergo imagenological studies looking for renal infection, renal scarring or urinary tract abnormalities. The imagenological studies are nice for children and distressing for their parents and their contribution in the acute phase is minimal. Imaging tests should be based on ITU NICE guidelines that attempt to show that one of the most important pillars to prevent renal sequelae is early diagnosis and effective treatment.
