ABSTRACT

At the present paper we describe the experience we obtained with the use of a microvascular free-fl ap, in a case of an important lack of tissue in one of the cheeks. This fl ap, known as "anterolateral thigh fl ap" or ATL with its accronym, was fi rst described by Song et al. In 1984 and has spread all over the world due to its great advantages and easy to use possibilities. The case of a young woman who suff ered a home accident with a fi re arm (a shotgun) resulting in the loss of all the soft tissues of the right cheek is shown, as well as the repair we obtained through the placing of this ATL free fl ap in the injured area, anastomosed to arteries and veins in the patient's neck. A 6 years post op evolution is given to observe the interesting result achieved
