ABSTRACT

Abstract Mental health care for the homeless population (HP) is an important topic but supported by several studies as underexplored. Given the complexity of this demand, there are several services in the SUS and SUAS that require an intersectoral work articulated in a network; however, studies point out several flaws in their performance. In this secondary statistical study, we propose a discussion of this articulation based on the results of the SUAS 2019 CENSUS. Participants: 228 Centro Pops, from 25 Brazilian states. Variables from the block of questions related to the articulation of the Centro Pop with CAPS and hospitals were chosen for analysis and the Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) was used to establish associations between variables and their categories. The results show a moderately satisfactory articulation with the CAPS and unsatisfactory in relation to the hospitals. It is concluded that the articulation of the Centro Pop with the CAPS is relevant mainly in large municipalities, and incipient with hospitals, regardless of the population size. The flow protocol is highlighted as an important tool for effective intersectorality in health care for the HP and the right to the city, and longitudinal studies on the subject are suggested, to aid in decision-making instances.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Research has revealed that the implementation of physical activity programs improves mental health. However, there are still doubts about the relationship between muscle strength and the presence of psychosocial disorders such as anxiety and stress in the university student population. Objective: To study the association of a physical condition (grip strength) and the presence of Trait-Anxiety in female students. Materials and methods: An empirical research with a predictive associative strategy was conducted on a sample of 30 female undergraduate students. The predictor physical variables assessed were anthropometry, grip strength, and maximum oxygen consumption. Trait-Anxiety was evaluated using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Statistical analysis was performed through ordinal logistic regression between predictor physical variables and level of Trait-Anxiety. Results: Only grip strength was statistically significant (p=0.033). This analysis, expressed as Odds Ratio, assumes a 74.36% probability that the lower level of grip strength, the greater chances of having Trait-Anxiety. Conclusions: Grip strength is not only a physical parameter to detect cardiovascular risks and associated pathologies, but also it should be used to identify mental health disorders.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Introduction: The low levels of maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max) evaluated in Chilean schoolchildren suggest the startup of trainings that improve the aerobic capacity. Objective: To analyze the effect of a High-intensity Interval Training method on maximum oxygen consumption in Chilean schoolchildren. Materials and methods: Thirty-two high school students from the eighth grade, who were divided into two groups, were part of the study (experimental group = 16 students and control group = 16 students). The main analyzed variable was the maximum oxygen consumption through the Course Navette Test. A High-intensity Interval training method was applied based on the maximum aerobic speed obtained through the Test. A mixed ANOVA was used for statistical analysis. Results: The experimental group showed a significant increase in the Maximum Oxygen Consumption between the pretest and posttest when compared with the control group (p < 0.0001). Conclusion: The results of the study showed a positive effect of the High-intensity Interval Training on the maximum consumption of oxygen. At the end of the study, it is concluded that High-intensity Interval Training is a good stimulation methodology for Chilean schoolchildren.

ABSTRACT

Background: If aerobic capacity is stimulated early in life, maximal oxygen consumption during adulthood is assured. Aim: To analyze the effects of a high intensity interval training (HIIT) in adolescents on the maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) measured using the 20-m shuttle run test (20mSRT). Material and Methods: Twenty eight teenagers aged 13 ± 0.6 years were divided in two groups of 14 subjects each. One group was to a 16 sessions of HIIT interval training based on their individual maximal aerobic speed and the other continued with their usual exercise done at school. At baseline and the end of the intervention VO2max was measured using the 20mSTR. Results: At the end of the intervention, the trained teenagers significantly improved their VO2max and the time spent in the 20mSTR. Conclusions: A HIIT program based on the individual maximal aerobic speed improves VO2max in adolescents.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The high physical demands that Navy personnel face in order to perform their day-to-day tasks entail a high development in peak oxygen uptake (VO 2max). Therefore, finding tests to measure VO2max in Navy personnel in a reliable and valid fashion requiring minor infrastructure and are easily performed is a pending matter. Objective: To validate a 6- minute run test (6WRT) in Navy personnel. Methods: correlational study, while the sample were 224 cadets of the Chilean Navy School. The variables to be measured were: VO2max and distance measured through a 6WRT and 12- minute test (12- min test). The statistical analysis was performed through the Pearson correlation test and the Bland-Altman technique. The post hoc analysis was performed with Student's t test and the size of the effect (SE) was measured using Cohen's d test. Results: The connection of the estimated VO2max between 6WRT and 12- min test was 0.06. The Post hoc analysis showed a significant difference between the estimated VO2max of both field tests (p < 0.0001; SE = 1.016). The Bland-Altman analysis evidenced a relation between media values and the differences of VO2max between 12- min test and 6WRT were approximately -3.03. Conclusion: The results of the study showed a positive connection between 6WRT test and 12- min test. Consequently, 6WRT test is a valid test to be applied in Navy personnel(AU)

ABSTRACT

Purpose: Determining the acute effect of a Complex Training in bench press over grenade throwing in professional and amateur military pentathletes. Methods: Nineteen military pentathletes divided into two groups were part of the study (Professional Group = 10 and Amateur Group = 9). Variables measured were: Distance maximum in grenade throwing and peak power in bench press. Complex Training protocol consisted of: 4 sets of 5 repetitions at 30 percent of one repetition maximum + 4 repetitions at 60 percent of one repetition maximum + 3 grenade throws with a 15-second rest. For the statistical analysis, repeated measures ANOVA was used, the effect size was estimated with Eta Partial Squared. Results: Distance maximum of grenade throwing showed a significant increase between the Control Set and the four experimental sets for the Professional Group (p = 0.0019, effect size = 0.370) and a significant decrease in the Amateur Group (p = 0.0128, effect size = 0.305); peak power in bench press did not suffer significant modifications in both groups (Professional Groupp = 0.15, effect size = 0.166; Amateur Group p = 0.17, effect size = 0.199). Conclusions: The results of the study showed a positive acute effect from Complex Training on the distance of grenade throwing only for professional military pentathletes, such effect was attributed to a Post-Activation Potentiation of the muscles involved in throwing. The significant decline in grenade throwing observed in the amateur military pentathletes was attributed to the impossibility of synthetizing ATP post-workout(AU)
