ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To observe the curative effect of different physical rehabilitation techniques on patients with lumbar disc herniation.@*METHODS@#Eighty-four patients were randomly divided into Group A, Group B and Group C. Group A were treated with the computerized pelvis traction and ultrashort wave, Group B were treated with the computerized pelvis traction only, while Groups C were treated with the computerized pelvis traction, the ultrashort wave and the traditional Chinese medicine iontophoresis. The outcome was measured with the Japanese Orthopaedics Association Score (JOA score) about lower back pain (LBP).@*RESULTS@#Compared with before the treatment, the JOA score of all the 3 groups increase markedly after the treatment (P<0.001). Compared with group B, the JOA score of Groups A and Group C significantly increased (P<0.05). Compared with Group A, the JOA score in Group C significantly increased (P<0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#The curative effect of comprehensive rehabilitation on lumbar disc herniation is better than that of the single rehabilitation.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy of comprehensive rehabilitation therapy on hand function after nerve and tendon repair in wrist.Methods22 patients after nerve and tendons repaired in wrist accepted comprehensive rehabilitation treatment such as ultrasound therapy, electrical nerve stimulating and function training in the whole course.1,3,6 and 12 months after treatment,re-assessment of the involved hand were performed with digital movement, sensation function and Carroll upper extremities function test(UEFT).ResultsThe excellent rate of hand function recovery in all measures were 95% 12 months after treatment.ConclusionComprehensive rehabilitation therapy is effective significantly in the improvement of hand function after nerve and tendon repaired in wrist.

ABSTRACT

Objective To validate if the continuous passive motion instrument we developed is practical and sta- ble for animal experiment. Methods Ten New Zealand male rabbits were used to establish the animal model of full- thickness defect of articular cartilage in the facies patellaris of femur with their both knees. The rabbits were then randomly divided into groups A and B(10 in each group). The rabbits in group A were administered with CPM of both knees daily for 4 weeks, while those in group B remained normal cage activity only.At the end of the treatment, all the animals were sacrificed, and their articular cartilage was harvested for HE staining and observation. Results It was found that group A had a significantly better repair of the full-thickness defects of articular cartilage than that of the group B,as reflected by the range of motion and morphological observation of the knees(P
