ABSTRACT

Dry eye syndrome is a disease commonly seen in all age groups with a greater ration in elderly population. Large scale studies have determined that increasing age, female sex, and Asian race are all associated with higher DED prevalence. Their occurs tear deficiency and ocular surface disorders, which produces symptoms like discomfort, visual disturbance and tear film instability. Clinically and etymologically, similar entity to Dry eye syndrome is Shushkakshipaka. In modern ophthalmology, conventional approach for Dry eye syndrome is lubricating eye drops which are not satisfactory. Ayurveda has a holistic approach to deal with this problem. This clinical study was done to evaluate the effect of Jivaniya Ghritapana in Shushkakshipaka (dry eye syndrome). An open clinical trial for 10 patients was planned. They were presenting with clinical features of Shushkakshipaka (Dry Eye Syndrome). Snehapana was done in all patients with Jivaniya Ghrita. Results: On assessing the selected criteria, significant results were found in subjective parameters like Rukshta (feeling of dryness), Gharshana (gritty sensation), Daruna vartmakshi (hardness of eyelids), Karachaunmilana (difficulty in opening and closing of eyes), Daha (burning sensation) & intolerance to light. Significant result was found in all objective parameters. Conclusion: Thus we can conclude that, for successful treatment Shushkakshipaka (Dry Eye Syndrome), Snehapana can be advised in such patients.

ABSTRACT

Viruses are the obligatory intracellular parasites infecting microbes, plants, animals, and humans. They aredead outside host cell but can take-over the host’s cell machinery as soon as they are into it. Several studies oninhibitor compounds have been done for animal viruses including those that are affecting humans, but thereis inadequacy in terms of research and literature for plant viruses that are responsible for losses in crop yieldand quality loss all across the globe. This could be focal point to study plant viruses, their transmission andpathogenicity, and to establish widely used, effective, and advanced approaches for their control. The purposeof this review is to discuss various approaches to control plant viruses that have been developed and applied tocombat plant viral infections. We have divided these approaches into two categories conventional (meristemtip culture, cryotherapy, thermotherapy, and chemotherapy) and advanced (nucleic acid-based approacheslike RNA Silencing, cross-protection, transgenic plants, gene pyramiding, and protein-protein interaction). Moreover, we have discussed and compared the principles, methodologies, advantages, and disadvantages ofeach technique. The approaches have been explored to promote their application in best suited way on variousplants to control viral diseases and to improve food crops quality with increase in production.

ABSTRACT

The incidence of ovarian tumor complicating caesarean section was about 1 in 200 caesarean births while ovarian tumors complicated termination of pregnancy in 1 of 594 procedures. Any type of Ovarian mass can be encountered during pregnancy, but the most common are cystic. Because pregnant women are usually young, malignant tumors are relatively uncommon. A patient third gravida with previous 2 caesarean sections presented in an emergency with complaints of persistent pain in abdomen for last 7 days with gestational age of 35 weeks and 3 days. Emergency Caesarean section was done to deliver an alive male baby of 2.25 Kg with good Apgar score. Intraoperative finding was suggestive of a huge multiloculated left ovarian mass of approximately. 40×30×15 cm weighing 20 Kg with straw coloured mucinous fluid. Up to 3 liters of fl uid aspirated before delivering the cyst out of the abdomen. Left salpingoopherectomy was done and specimen sent for histopathological examination that showed Mucinous cystadenoma of the ovary. Post operative period remain uneventful.
