ABSTRACT

Based on the analysis of current situation of the metrological education of large medical imaging equipment in colleges and universities at home, the advantages of major of Biomedical Engineering (BME) and the internal relation with the requirement of personnel training of metrology were systematically investigated. The necessity of carrying out education of large medical imaging equipment metrology for BME students in colleges and universities was elucidated. The specific thoughts and countermeasures were also proposed from curriculum establishment, teaching design, textbook compilation, conditional construction and teaching staff, respectively. The study is hopeful to provide guidance and help for the education of the large medical imaging equipment metrology in colleges and universities.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the spatial distribution characteristics of tuberculosis in rural areas of Nanning City from 2010 to 2018, and explore the clustering areas, and to provide evidence for tuberculosis prevention and treatment. Methods The database of tuberculosis epidemics in rural areas of Nanning City from 2010 to 2018 was established by ArcGIS 10.8. The spatial distribution map was drawn, and global autocorrelation, local autocorrelation and hotspot analysis were conducted. Results The spatial distribution map of the average annual reported incidence rates in rural areas of Nanning from 2010 to 2018 showed that the towns with high average annual incidence rates were Jinchai Town and Yangqiao Town. Global autocorrelation analysis showed that the Moran's I index from 2010 to 2018 was 0.18 (Z=2.33, P=0.02), suggesting that tuberculosis in rural areas of Nanning had spatial clustering in the regional distribution. Local autocorrelation analysis showed that tuberculosis in rural areas of Nanning had high-high clustering, low-low clustering, high-low clustering and low-high clustering patterns. Among them, Jinchai Town and Lidang Yao Township were high-high clustering areas. Litang Town, Xinfu Town and Taoxu Town were low-low clustering areas. Local hotspot analysis showed that “hotspot” areas included Jinchai Town, Yangqiao Town and Lidang Yao Township. Conclusion There is a spatial clustering of tuberculosis epidemics in rural areas of Nanning. The high-incidence areas include Jinchai Town, Yangqiao Town and Lidang Yao Township, and the low-incidence areas include Litang Town, Xinfu Town and Taoxu Town.

ABSTRACT

Modeling a protein functional network in concerned species is an efficient approach for identifying novel genesin certain biological pathways. Tea plant (Camellia sinensis) is an important commercial crop abundant innumerous characteristic secondary metabolites (e.g., polyphenols, alkaloids, alkaloids) that confer tea qualityand health benefits. Decoding novel genes responsible for tea characteristic components is an important basisfor applied genetic improvement and metabolic engineering. Herein, a high-quality protein functional networkfor tea plant (TeaPoN) was predicted using cross-species protein functional associations transferring andintegration combined with a stringent biological network criterion control. TeaPoN contained 31,273 nonredundant functional interactions among 6,634 tea proteins (or genes), with general network topologicalproperties such as scale-free and small-world. We revealed the modular organization of genes related to themajor three tea characteristic components (theanine, caffeine, catechin) in TeaPoN, which served as strongevidence for the utility of TeaPoN in novel gene mining. Importantly, several case studies regarding geneidentification for tea characteristic components were presented. To aid in the use of TeaPoN, a concise webinterface for data deposit and novel gene screening was developed (http://teapon.wchoda.com). We believe thatTeaPoN will serve as a useful platform for functional genomics studies associated with characteristic secondarymetabolites in tea plant.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the application of 43-plex SNP typing system in forensic science. Methods The typing of 43 SNP loci in 123 unrelated Han individuals from East China was detected by MALDI-TOF-MS. The application value of 43-plex SNP typing system was assessed according to the foren-sic parameters of population genetics. Results All the 43 SNP loci of 123 individuals showed no signifi-cant departure from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (P>0.05). Excepted rs1355366, rs2270529, rs10776839 and rs938283, there were 39 SNP loci had minor allele frequencies (MAF), which were greater than 0.25. Among the 25 loci MAFs, 24 ranged from 0.4 to 0.5, while 3 were close to 0.4. The DP, CDP, PIC, Ho, PEtrio and PEduo of the 43 SNP loci were 0.2901-0.6544, 1-9.8×10-11, 0.1708-0.5000, 0.1557-0.5935, 0.0854-0.2500 and 0.0146-0.1250, respectively. The CPEtrio and CPEduo were 0.999986 and 0.9924361, respectively. Conclusion The 43-plex SNP typing system in present study shows a high polymorphism, which can be an effective supplement and verification for traditional STR genetic markers. It also can be used with other commercial kits for the forensic paternity testing and individual identification.

ABSTRACT

English for science and technology (EST) is the language medium for academic communication among scientists and technologists. The expression of EST is characterized by concise-ness, correctness, objectiveness and understandability. The EST course is regarded as a key process for the undergraduate students to reinforce the English foundation and improve the capacity of English application after their College English study. In this paper, the authors introduced an interest-motivated, output-dominated, snowballing and interactive teaching strategy, according to the accumulated experi-ence of EST teaching in the past few years coupled with the unique medicine-engineering combined characteristics for the major of biomedical engineering.

ABSTRACT

Objective: In order to understand temporal and spatial distributions of alternating electromagnetic field (AEMF) of a coil thoroughly, the 3-D finite-element models of this kind of Biomagnetic Fields are established and analyzed for the research on bioeffect of magnetic field on microcirculation. Methods: Designing CAD models, setting boundary conditions, meshing models and obtaining numerical solutions were completed all within Comsol Multiphysics in terms of the theory of electromagnetic field. Results: Axial and radial plot of spatial attenuation rate of the AEMF, which were accordance with measured data, were simulated while the temporal and spatial distributions of AEMF were acquired. Conclusion: Models of 3-D finite-element of this kind of biomagnetic fields which appeared to exactly simulate the real magnetic field were first established systematically, and solved the placing problem of magnetic fields for the research on bioeffect of magnetic field on microcirculation and provided platforms for the simulation of hemodynamic of blood flow in the magnetic field.

ABSTRACT

It is a technological difficulty to acquire data from ultrasound with ultra-band in the study of microwave-induced thermoacoustic tomography. A high-speed data acquisition system for the ultrasonic signal with a frequency fewer than 500 MHz is designed in the paper. The result obtained demonstrates that the system holds good for microwave-induced thermoacoustic tomography.
