ABSTRACT

Abstract : We report a case of skin cancer who presented with an ulcerated nodule at left arm and finger. The patient was previously diagnosed Bowenûs disease at left calf one year ago, skin cancer at hand and foot nine years ago. He also received herbal medicine every month for 1 year since 50 years ago for herpes treatment. Multiple skin cancers were suspected to be induced by chronic arsenicism. High level of arsenic was identified from nails. Bowenûs disease at finger was treated with CO2 laser and squamous cell carcinoma at left arm was removed by surgical excision. Chronic arsenicism was treated by supportive care.

ABSTRACT

Another technique for the fixation of an arch bar which is needed to maintain proper occlusion is described. It gives secure fixation for the treatment of maxillo-mandibular fracture with shorter fixation and removal time from about thirty minutes to fifteen minutes. This technique can also be used in orthognathic surgery.

ABSTRACT

Microvascular replantations of amputated distal fingers were reviewed in 11 cases in which single arterial repair without venous repair was done. usually, the standard replantation consists of re-anastomosis of arteries and veins. In this study, venorrhaphy could not be achieved since no vein of sufficieny size was found. Survival rate of replanted digits was 68.8 percent (11 from 16 digits), which compared favorably to other reports. This technique offers better cosmetic and functional outcome than reattachment as a composite graft or stump closure. The result of our study confirms the possiblitity of single arterial digital replantation with an acceptable outcome in selected cases. Cases analysis and surgical technique will be discussed in detail.
