ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of combined treatment using salmeterol / fluticasone propionate and lip shrinkage respiration on the treatment of patients with pneumoconiosis complicated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease( COPD). METHODS: By random number table method,98 patients with stable pneumoconiosis complicated with COPD were divided into 3 groups: drug treatment group( 33 cases) was treated only with inhalation of salmeterol /fluticasone propionate( 50 μg /500 μg),twice a day; lip shrinkage respiration group( 34 cases) was treated with abdominal breathing and lip shrinkage respiration training, three times daily for 15 min per session; combined treatment group( 31 cases) was treated with both the above treatments. Before and after 6 months of treatment, the lung function, the 6-minute walk distance and the oxygen saturation( Sa O2) were detected. The modified Medical Research Council( m MRC) Respiratory Questionnaire was used to evaluate the degree of dyspnea. RESULTS: After 6 months of treatment, the forced vital capacity percentage( FVC%),percentage of forced expiratory volume in one second( FEV1%),maximum ventilatory volume( MVV),6-minute walking distance,m MRC degree and the Sa O2 improved in the patients of these 3groups compared with those before treatment( P < 0. 05). Compared with the drug treatment group or lip shrinkage respiration group after treatment, the FVC%,FEV1%,MVV,6-minute walking distance and the Sa O2 in the combined treatment group were higher( P < 0. 05),and the m MRC degree was lower( P < 0. 05). CONCLUSION: Salmeterol /fluticasone propionate combined with lip shrinkage respiration treatment had better therapeutic effect than single treatment in treating patients with pneumoconiosis combined with COPD.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo investigate the repair of the severe cleft palate in patients over 10 years old.

METHODSFirst, the horizontal palate of the palatine bone was broken and the greater palatine foramen was enlarged by chisel. Then the great palatine neurovascular bundle was released. The soft palate was pushed back and lifted as described by Pro. Ruyao Song. Finally, a buccal musculomucosal flap was transferred to repair the frontal wound after pushing back the soft palate.

RESULTS13 patients aged 10 - 25 years old were treated by this method. All the flaps survived completely. Both the hard and soft palate were lengthened. Velopharyngeal incompetence was corrected very well and the pronunciation improved markedly.

CONCLUSIONSThis method can close the severe cleft palate without tension and lengthen the soft palate. It can correct velopharyngeal incompetence very well and improve pronunciation dramatically. It is especially useful for severe cleft palate in older patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of adenovirus-medicated gene therpy with vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)delivered into the subdermal space to treat compromised skin flap in the rat. Methods Thir- ty sprague-dawley rats weighing 350~400g were used in this study. The rats was randomly divided into three groups of ten rats each.A dorsal flap(8cm?2cm)in full thickness with the pedicale located at the leve of the iliaccrest was designed, each, animal received recipient bed subfascial injections of adenovirus encoding VEGF(Ad-VEGF)or green fluorescent protein(Ad-GFP)as treatment control.Another set of animals(n = 10)received NG was designated as control. The flap were elevated as originally designated and sutured back to its bed.The survival rate of the flap was evaluated on day seven after operation. Results The survival rates of the flap in Ad-VEGF group increased signifi- cantly as compared with those of the Ad-GFP group(P

ABSTRACT

Many of the epiphytic Orchids are used as traditional Chinese medicine. The chemical components and pharmacology have been studied in recent 15 years. This article reviewed the studies which will be beneficial to reveal the relatives among these medicinal plants in the Orchid Family and be helpful to develop new drugs.

ABSTRACT

Geobiontic type medicinal plants subjected to Orchidaceae family are used as important traditional Chinese medicine. Scientists are paying more attentions to their chemical components and pharmacology recently. This paper reviewed their chemical components involved in phenanthrene, bibenzene, flavone, sterol, terpenes, alkoloids and pharmacology such as antibacterium, cytotoxic activity, antihyperliposis effects. All these information are beneficial to reveal the relative among these medicinal plants in Orchidaceae family and are helpful to develop new drugs.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo make comparative study on HPLC-FPS of several kinds of Pueraria lobata and P. thomsonii from different sources.

METHODKromasil C18 column was used, with mixture of acetonitrile and water as mobile phase in a gradient mode. The wavelength of measurement was 250 nm.

RESULT AND CONCLUSIONThe fingerprints of P. lobata and P. thomsonii were obtained. This method can be used to identify P. lobata and P. thomsonii from different sources conveniently, and it may be practically valuable for the quality control of sample for P. lobata or P. thomsonii and its preparation.
