ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate the prevalence rate and influencing factors of depression and anxiety in disabled people in Guang'an during the post-pandemic period, so as to provide references for promoting mental health of disabled people. MethodsFrom April to May 2021, the disabled people dwelling in low-risk areas for coronavirus infections in Guang'an for half a year and met the criteria outlined in Classification and Grading Criteria of Disability (GB/T26341-2010) were selected as the survey subjects, and their depression and anxiety symptoms were evaluated via the Patients' Health Questionnaire Depression Scale-9 item (PHQ-9) and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7) through Wenjuanxing platform. Then binary Logistic regression analysis was performed to screen the risk and protective factors for depression and anxiety in disabled people. ResultsThe detection rates of moderate-to-severe and severe depressive symptoms were 9.05% and 8.35%, and the detection rates of moderate and severe anxiety symptoms were 9.40% and 11.25%. Regression analysis denoted that being laid-off and job-waiting were risk factors for depression and anxiety in disabled people (OR=2.354, 2.353, P<0.01). Being unmarried (OR=0.418), married (OR=0.414), visual disability (OR=0.254), limb disability (OR=0.460), good family function (OR=0.241), moderate family dysfunction (OR=0.288), complete self-care (OR=0.062) and partial self-care (OR=0.416) were protective factors for depression in disabled people (P<0.05 or 0.01). Visual disability(OR=0.382), hearing disability(OR=0.143), limb disability(OR=0.432), good family function (OR=0.246), moderate family dysfunction (OR=0.402), complete self-care (OR=0.093) and partial self-care (OR=0.378) were protective factors for anxiety in disabled people (P<0.05 or 0.01). ConclusionThe disabled people in Guang'an during the post-pandemic period suffer a high detection rate of depression and anxiety, and the detection rate is even higher among those being laid-off or job-waiting, while good family function and complete or partial self-care ability are conducive to protecting the mental health of the disabled.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate relationship between campus violence and sexual orientation of middle school students, and to provide suggestions for intervention of campus violence.@*Methods@#A total of 3 738 middle school students selected by using stratified cluster sampling method were asked to attend a questionnaire survey.@*Results@#About 49.9% middle school students were campus violence victims. There were significant differences between different school, gender, education level of parents, academic achievement, sexual orientation students’ rate of suffering from campus violence(χ2=18.66, 88.35, 7.71, 8.26, 10.07, 15.23, P<0.01), junior students’(53.4%) was higher than senior students’(46.3%), boys’(58.1%) were higher than girls’(42.7%), students’ whose parents’ education level greater than equal or undergraduate degree(54.0%, 54.6%) was higher than those whose parents’ education level below undergraduate degree(48.6%, 48.7%), students whose study achievement below average (54.5%) was higher than those whose achievement greater than or equal to average(48.9%, 47.9%), homosexual and bisexuals’(both 58.7%) were higher than those with uncertain sexual orientation and heterosexuality(51.6%, 48.1%). Homosexual (OR=1.51) and bisexual (OR=1.68) were risk factors for suffering from campus violence of middle school students.@*Conclusion@#Middle schools should strengthen the prevention and intervention of campus violence; Students should be provided with proper information regarding homosexual and bisexual, and to reduce and avoid violence against them.

ABSTRACT

Gauze packing and drainage is a routine treatment for various types of fistula and sinus pressure ulcers. Because the external orifice of pressure ulcer or fistula is relatively small and the sinus deep, the conventional gauze packing has many drawbacks. Under the situation the operator is not skillful enough and no appropriate tools, it is necessary to pull the external orifice by tweezers to dilate the sinus and perform gauze packing and drainage, which brings great pain to patients, possibly leading to wound enlargement and delayed healing. At present, there is lack of auxiliary tools to improve gauze packing. Therefore, we developed and designed a gauze filler for packing and drainage of various kinds of fistula and sinus pressure ulcers, the device has the following advantages: good drainage effect, simple operation, low cost, safety and effectiveness. It not only improves the comfort of patients, reduces the number of dressing changes, reduce the number of dressing changes, shorten the hospitalization time and pay expense, but also reduces the burden of medical workers thus it is worthwhile to popularize and apply the newly designed gauze filler in clinical practice.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the changes of the depressive behavior and amygdaloid nucleus nerve growth factor(NGF)expression in estro?gen?deprived female rats and explore the possible mechanism and targets of estradiol in depression treatment. Methods A total of 30 adult SD fe?male rats were randomly assigned to 3 groups:sham operation group(SHAM,n=10);ovariectomized group(OVX,n=10)and ovariectomized rats treated with estradiol group(OVX+E,n=10). The behavior changes were observed by tail suspension test(TST)and sucrose preference test (SPT) after 8?week estradiol treatment. Subsequently ,immunohistochemical staining detect NGF expression in amygdaloid nucleus. Results Compared with the SHAM group rats, sucrose preference ratio significantly decreased in SPT(P<0.01),immobile time prolonged in TST(P<0.01),serum estradiol level and amygdaloid NGF expression significantly decreased(all P<0.01). 8?week estradiol treatment ameliorated depres?sion?like behavior and increased serum E2 level and NGF expression in amygdaloid nucleus in OVX+E group rats when compared with the OVX group(all P<0.01). Conclusion Estradiol treatment can improve the depressive behavior of ovariectomized rats ,which may be related to the in?crease of serum estradiol level and the expression of NGF in amygdaloid nucleus.
