ABSTRACT
Ressecção mandibular em tratamento de tumores promove alterações estéticas e funcionais importantes que atualmente vêm sendo minimizadas pelo uso de placas reconstrutivas com modelagem prévia em protótipos. A adaptação dessas placas de reconstrução objetiva recriar o contorno anatômico prévio, no entanto, algumas vezes, é dificultado pela expansão das corticais ósseas induzida pelo crescimento tumoral. O objetivo do presente artigo é o de descrever a elaboração de um dispositivo capaz de adaptar fielmente placas reconstrutivas de maneira rápida e de baixo custo.
Resection of the mandible in the treatment of tumors produces major aesthetic and functional changes that are currently being minimized by the use of reconstructive plates with prior modeling in prototypes. The adaptation of these reconstructive plates aims to recreate the original anatomical contour; the process is sometimes hampered, however, by the expansion of cortical bone, induced by tumor growth. The purpose of this article is to describe the development of a device capable of faithfully adapting reconstructive plates in a rapid manner and at low cost.
