ABSTRACT
The most serious complication of cholecystitis is perforation of the gallbladder. Perforation may result in generalized peritonitis or fistula formation if perforation is freee or into an adjacent viscera, rspectively... Gallstone ileus is thus an uncommon complication of cholelithiasis, being this disorder secondaryto calculous cholecystitis, a clinical entity with special features. From august 1996 through september 2001 we have treated 10 patients with a diagnosis of gallstone ileus. The aim of this report is to preent a retrospective analysis of these patients and a review of the literature
