ABSTRACT

Objective: To observe the clinical effects of frozen shoulder treated by penetrating needling and manipulation Methods: 336 cases of frozen shoulder were randomly divided into treatment group, treated with needling Jianyu (LI 15) toward Jianqian (Ex) and Manipulation, and control group, treated with needling Jianyu (LI 15) toward Jianqian (Ex). The scores of shoulder movement and the changes of infrared image were observed before and after treatment. Results: The therapeutic effects were better in the treatment group than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Penetrating needling combining with manipulation is effective in treating frozen shoulder.

ABSTRACT

To investigate the clinical efficacy of point Houxi(SI 3) electroacupuncture for treating acute lumbar sprain. Methods:Three hundred patients with acute lumbar sprain were randomly grouped with a random number table. The electroacupuncture group was treated by electro-acupuncture at point Houxi (SI 3) and the medication group, with meloxicam. Results:A comparison of the short-term effects showed that the efficacy rate was 97.3% in the electroacupuncture group and 89.3% in the medication group. The average rank of the short-term effect score was lower in the electroacupuncture group than in the medication group (P<0.01);there was a significant difference between the two groups. A comparison of the long-term effect showed that the efficacy rate was 99.3% in the electroacupuncture group and 93.2% in the medication group. The average rank of the long-term effect score was lower in the electroacupuncture group than in the medication group (P<0.01);there was a significant difference between the two groups. Conclusion:Both point Houxi (SI 3) electroacupuncture and meloxicam have a marked effect on acute lumbar sprain, but the short-term and long-term effects are better in the electroacupuncture group than in the medication group.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To assess the clinical efficacy of single acupoint in the treatment of acute lumbar sprain. Methods: According to the same diagnostic standard, the randomized controlled trial was conducted in several clinical centers. All 320 subjects were digitally randomized into observation group in which Houxi (SI 3) was needled and control group in which Yaotongdian (Ex-UE 7) was needled. The pain severity was scored respectively by the doctors and patients. Results: After 2-course treatment, the short-term effective rates were 89.4% and 82.5% in observation group and control group, and the long-term effective rates were 95.6% and 93.5% respectively. Ridit analysis showed a difference in the short-term effects (P<0.05) and no difference in the long-term effects (P>0.05). Conclusion: Single acupoint is quite effective for acute lumbar sprain, with better effects of Houxi (SI 3) than Yaotongdian (Ex-UE 7).
