ABSTRACT
Objetivo: identificar relações entre a medida de independência funcional e o perfil comportamental e cognitivo de um grupo de pessoas adultas com Paralisia Cerebral. Métodos: Dezoito adultos institucionalizados e com diagnóstico de Paralisia Cerebral (12 do sexo masculino e 6 do sexo feminino) e seus respectivos cuidadores participaram do estudo. As técnicas de coleta de dados foram o Teste Não-Verbal de Inteligência (TONI-3), o Inventário de Comportamentos de Adultos de 18 a 59 anos (ABCL) e a Medida de Independência Funcional (MIF). Resultados: A pontuação total da MIF apresentou correlações negativas com a escala problemas de ansiedade do ABCL (rho= -0,511, p=0,030) e positivas com o TONI-3 (rho=0,540, p=0,021). Algumas alterações de comportamento do ABCL correlacionaram-se negativamente com o TONI-3, por exemplo, escala Problemas de Atenção (rho= -0,459, p=0,056) e a escala de Isolamento (rho= -0,545, p=0,019). A média dos valores de desempenho motor foi de 35,88; 28,5 no desempenho cognitivo e 64,38 na escala total. Conclusões: Houve correlação entre problemas de comportamento, medida de independência funcional e habilidades cognitivas. Os resultados servem para orientar os cuidadores e a equipe da instituição no planejamento de programas de reabilitação para os pacientes pesquisados.
Objective: To identify the relationship between the functional independence measure and the cognitive and behavioral profile of a group of adult subjects with Cerebral Palsy. Methods: Eighteen institutionalized patients who were diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (12 males, 6 females) and their respective care-givers participated in the study. The data collection techniques used were the Test of Nonverbal Intelligence (TONI-3), the Adult Behavior Checklist 18-59 (ABCL), and the Functional Independence Measure (FIM). Results: The total score of the FIM showed negative correlations with the anxiety problems scale of ABCL (rho = -0.511, p = 0.030) and positive correlations with the TONI-3 (rho = 0.540, p = 0.021). Some behavioral disturbances of the ABCL were negatively correlated with the TONI-3; for example, the Attention Problems scale (rho = -0.459, p = 0.056) and the Isolation scale (rho = -0.545, p = 0.019). The average of the motor performance values was 35.88, 28.5 for cognitive performance, and 64.38 for overall. Conclusions: There was a correlation between behavioral problems, functional independence measure, and cognitive abilities. The results can be used to guide the care-givers and the institution staff in the planning of rehabilitation programs for the researched patients.
