ABSTRACT
Introducción: La nutrición inadecuada es un problema de salud mundial. Las implicaciones de esta situación sobre la salud materno-infantil son muy serias, ya que ganancias insuficientes de peso durante la gestación y la anemia inciden en nacimientos de niños bajo peso que implican un aumento de la morbimortalidad en el primer año de vida. Objetivo: Reflejar aspectos básicos de nutrición y embarazo para su correcto manejo en la Atención Primaria de salud. Material y Métodos: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica mediante la consulta de bases de datos de los sistemas referativos, como MEDLINE, IBECS , Scielo,Who con la utilización de descriptores como nutrición, salud materno-infantil, anemia, bajo peso. Conclusiones: Se aportan datos concretos y de gran importancia sobre la nutrición en las gestantes y su influencia en la salud de estas y el producto de la gestación.
Introduction: Malnutrition is a health problem worldwide. The implications of this situation on maternal and child health are very serious because insufficient weight gain during pregnancy and anemia bring about Low Birth Weight, and it means an increase of morbimortality in the first year of life. Objective: To reflect basic aspects of nutrition and pregnancy for their correct handling in the health primary care. Material and Methods: A bibliographical revision was carried out by means of the consultation of databases, as MEDLINE, IBECS, Scielo, Who with the use of describers like nutrition, maternal-infantile health, anemia, under weight. Conclusion: Concrete data of great importance on the nutrition of the pregnant and their influence in the health of the same ones and the product of the gestation were given.
