ABSTRACT
O objetivo da pesquisa foi analisar a relação entre duas escalas de avaliação para diagnóstico de autismo a Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) e a Escala de Avaliação de Traços Autísticos (ATA) em uma amostra de 76 sujeitos, 40 com retardo mental e 36 com autismo, com idades entre 5 e 13 anos. Os sujeitos foram avaliados através de uma equipe multidisciplinar segundo os critérios do DSM IV TR (2002). O estudo entre as médias foi realizado através do teste t de Student para p=0,05 e a correlação entre os resultados, da CARS e ATA, pelo teste de Pearson. Os dados obtidos evidenciaram que ambas as escalas diferenciam adequadamente portadores de Autismo e de Retardo Mental.
he research aimed to examine the relationship between two rating scales for the diagnosis of autism Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) and the Scale for Assessment of Autistic Traits (ATA) in a sample of 76 subjects, 40 with mental retardation and 36 with autism, aged between 5 and 13 years old. The subjects were evaluated by a multidisciplinary team (doctors, psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists) in compliance with the criteria set by the DSM IV - TR (2002). The study between the average results was performed using the Student test, P = 0.05 and the correlation between the results of CARS and ATA, was made by Pearson test. The data showed that both scales adequately differentiate patients with autism from patients with Mental Retardation.

O objetivo da pesquisa foi verificar através do Inventário de Avaliação Pediátricade Incapacidade (PEDI), diferenças no desempenho funcional e a necessidadede auxílio do cuidador em 61 crianças, sendo 34 com transtorno invasivo do desenvolvimentoe 27 com retardo mental, com médias de idade 8,06 e 8,12 respectivamente,todos diagnosticados previamentepor equipe multidisciplinar, atravésdas escalas ATA, CARS e Vineland.Os dados obtidos foram analisados estatisticamente, através do programa Bioestat 5.0, realizando test t para comparaçãode médias, o qual não evidencioudiferenças significativas no desempenhoe na necessidade de auxílio do cuidador, exceto no item mobilidade de habilidades funcionais.
The goal of this research is to verify through Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI), differences in performance and the need of aid from the caregiver of 61 children, being 34 of them with pervasive development disorder and 27 with mental retardation, the average of their age is between 8,06 and 8,12 respectively, all previously diagnosed by a multidisciplinary team, through the scales ATA, CARS and Vineland.The collected date were statistically analyzed by the program Bioestat 5.0, and T Tests were made to compare the averages, which showed no significant differences in performance and the need of aid from the caregiver, except for item mobility of functional abilities.

Este estudo teve como objetivo realizar um novo estudo de validade da Chilhood Autism Rating Scale CARS. a escala foi aplicada em forma de entrevista às mães de crianças com Altismo e de crianças com Deficiência Mental, previamente diagnosticadas por equipe multidisciplinar. Os dados obtidos foram analisados estatisticamente, através do programa bioestat 5.0 realizando-se teste t para comparação de médias e curvas ROC, visando a estabelecer melhor ponto de corte. As CARS apresentou grande sensibilidade 0,8 e especificidade 0,83 para identificar Transtornos Invasivos do Desenvolvimento e mostrou-se masi precisa para rastrear sintomas autísticos, especialmente com ponto de corte 33
