ABSTRACT

Se efectuó un estudio descriptivo, transversal y retrospectivo de 285 pacientes con diagnóstico de hipertensión arterial por más de 5 años, pertenecientes al Consultorio Médico de la Familia No 42 en el área de salud del Policlínico Docente José Martí Pérez de Santiago de Cuba, durante el trienio 2015-2017, con vistas a caracterizarles según aspectos clínicos, epidemiológicos y terapéuticos de interés. Los resultados de la serie revelaron un predominio del sexo femenino (56,8 por ciento) y del grupo etario de 45 a 54 años (31,6 por ciento). El sedentarismo y el tabaquismo primaron como factores de riesgo, con cifras porcentuales respectivas de 45,3 y 44,6, y la cardiopatía isquémica resultó la enfermedad crónica no transmisible principalmente asociada a la hipertensión arterial, con 97,5 por ciento. La mayoría de los pacientes presentaban una evolución superior a los 10 años y cumplían el tratamiento antihipertensivo.


A descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study of 285 patients with diagnosis of hypertension for more than 5 years, belonging to the Family Doctor Office No 42 in the health area of José Martí Pérez Teaching Polyclinic was carried out in Santiago de Cuba, during the trienium 2015-2017, aimed at characterizing them according to clinical, epidemiological and therapeutic aspects of interest. The results of the series revealed a prevalence of the female sex (56.8 percent) and the 45 to 54 age group (31.6 percent). The sedentary life style and nicotine addiction prevailed as risk factors, with respective percentage values of 45.3 and 44.6, and ischemic heart disease was the non communicable chronic disease mainly associated with hypertension, with 97.5 percent. Most of the patients presented a longer clinical course at 10 years and adhered to antihypertensive treatment
