ABSTRACT

Fast track surgery(Frs) is an idea and theory which has been highlighted by more and more clinic doctors and scholars, and widely used in the surgical operations recently. ~TS has greatly changed the mode of clinic therapy, ameliorated the velocity of the rehabilitation and prognosis after operation, and improved the quali- ty of life and the therapeutic effect. ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the clinical effect of the improved operation of endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy(ETS)for treatment of palmar hyperhidrosis. Methods The improved operation of ETS was used to 105 patients with palmar hyperhidrosis.T3 sympathetic was blocked in 105 cases with palmar hyperhidrosis. Results Hand sweating disappeared and axillary sweating discreased significantly in all patients. No one had any serious complications such as bleeding and Horner Syndrome except for five patients with pneumothoraces.Compensatory sweating was found in 15 patients following up from 1~12 months after operation. Conclusion The improved operation of ETS is a simple, safe, effective and less complications procedures.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the clinical significance of liver pathological changes in patients with rheumatic heart valve disease (rheumatic heart disease, RHD). Methods: Forty one patients with RHD and tricuspid valve incompetence in 30 patients underwent heart valve replacement. Light microscopy and H 800 transmission electron microscopy were used to observe liver tissue harvested by biopsy performed before institution of cardiopulmonary bypass. Results: Typical pathological changes of liver as the following: (1) Changes of liver intercellular substance including sinusoid widening, blood stasis, liver fibroplasia. (2)Hepatocyte changes: hepatocyte swollen, mitochondria swollen, crest disappearence, hepatocyte degeneration and necrosis. There was correlation between liver pathological changes and magnitude of tricuspid valve regurgitation. Conclusion: To improve liver pathological changes, it is important to operate on patients with rheumatic heart diseases and tricuspid valve incompetence as early as possible and to eliminate tricuspid valve regurgitation.

ABSTRACT

Plasma digoxin concentrations were measured by radioimmunoassay in 34 patients undergoing cardiac valve replacement before and after cardiopulmonary bypass. The concentration before the start of the bypass was 1. 379?0. 760 ng/ml while that after completion of the bypass was 0. 812?0. 529 ng/ ml with an average reduction of 0. 634?0. 481 ng/ml. The difference was remarkable (P
