ABSTRACT
Introduction and Objective: Modern dentistry seeks to offer increasingly esthetic treatments, aimed at patient's well-being and satisfaction. In this perspective, this study aimed to conduct a literature review on the use of ceramic laminates as conservative and esthetic solution, addressing their indications, contraindications, limitations and its importance in dentistry. Literature review: The evidence in the literature show that the ceramic laminates are used for restoring anterior teeth, reestablishing dental function and esthetic mainly due to its excellent optical property, and preserving tooth structure, as it is necessary less tooth wear to return shape, texture, color and harmony to the teeth involved. Conclusion: It was conclude that this is a treatment option with high success rate when properly indicated, planned and executed according to each case.

O plano de tratamento com próteses mudou significativamente nos últimos anos. Todos os dentes que apresentam tratamento endodôntico precisam ser analisados de maneira criteriosa para concluir se a obturação encontra-se adequada ou se o retratamento será necessário. O insucesso endodôntico geralmente é decorrente de fatores técnicos e patológicos ou influenciado por fatores sistêmicos. Os avanços na taxa de sucesso dos implantes dentários unitários tornam a prótese sobre implantes mais uma alternativa restauradora, obrigatória na opção de técnicas usadas pelo cirurgião dentista. Inúmeros fatores afetam a decisão entre o tratamento endodôntico, exodontia ou instalação de implante. Nessa perspectiva, o objetivo deste estudo foi realizar uma revisão da literatura sobre os limites do tratamento endodôntico, considerando a prótese unitária sobre implante como uma alternativa viável. A revisão de literatura mostrou que as taxas de sucesso dos implantes dentários e tratamentos endodônticos são elevadas e similares quando respeitadas as normas e os protolocos estabelecidos para cada situação; a prótese unitária sobre implante é uma alternativa importante após fracasso de tratamento endodôntico
The prosthetic treatment plan has changed significantly in recent years. All teeth that have endodontic treatment need to be examined very carefully to conclude if the root canal obturation presented is adequate or if the retreatment will be necessary. The endodontic failure is usually due to technical and pathological factors or influenced by systemic factors. Advances in the success rate of dental implants make the unit prosthesis an alternative implant restorative, required among the options of techniques used by any dentist. Numerous factors affect the decision between endodontic treatment or extraction followed by implant installation. From this perspective, the objective of this study was to make a review of literature about the limits of endodontic treatment, considering the unitary prosthesis on implants as a viable alternative. This search showed that success rates of dental implants and root canal treatments are high and similar when in compliance with the standards of fabrication and the protocols established for each situation; the unitary prosthesis on implants is an important alternative after failure of endodontic therapy
