ABSTRACT

The clinical presentation, chest image and electrocardiogram of 4 cases of premature complex-induced chronic cough admitted in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University from March 2008 to February 2009,were retrospectively analyzed. And other 6 cases of premature complex-induced chronic cough were retrieved for literature review. In total 10 patients, there were 3 males and 7 females aged 58(36-74) years, with a disease duration of 10.5 (3.0,264.0) months. The main clinical presentations were chronic dry cough with post-sternal thump and premature beats as shown by auscultation and 24 h-electrocardiogram examination.Cough was relieved after the premature beats were controlled with the treatment of arrhythmia drugs or radiofrequency ablation.Premature complex-induced cough is rare but it should be considered when the chief complaint of patients with premature beat is chronic cough.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effects of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) on N‐terminal pro‐B‐type natriuretic peptide (NT‐proBNP) in the non‐obese patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) .Methods A total of 41 cases of severe OSA complicating coronary artery disease(CAD) were divided into two groups based on their body mass index (BMI):obese group (BMI>28 kg/m2 ) and non‐obese group (BMI≤28 kg/m2 ) .All the patients were treated by CPAP for 24 weeks .Serum NT‐proBNP lev‐el was detected by adopting the electrochemiluminescence method ,the changes of the serum levels of NT‐proBNP were compared between before and after treatment .Results The NT‐proBNP level after treatment in the non‐obese group was significantly de‐creased ,which was decreased from (141 .8 ± 156 .5)pg/mL before treatment to (106 .7 ± 167 .2)pg/mL ,the difference was statisti‐cally significant (P0 .05) .Conclusion CPAP can effectively decrease the NT‐proBNP level in non‐obese patients OSA complicating CAD .

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To study the risk factors and protection measures for the occupational exposure to HBV,and reduce the occupational exposure risk of blood.METHODS A survey was carried out among 1352 medical staff. And then we carried on the analysis to 43 questions of it and used Logistic regression analytic method to find out the risk factors and protective measures.RESULTS Seventy one persons had occuptional exposure risk to HBV and 56 persons had needle puncture wound or sharp wound. The risk factors included needle puncture wound or sharp wound, blood contaminated skin and mucous membrane, and the long working life. While knowledge of infection control, protection consciousness, washing hands, using gloves, and wearing glasses were the protective factors.CONCLUSIONS It plays the vital role to reduce occupational exposure to HBV that the medical staff should reduce injury in work, vaccinate the HBV vaccine, use protection goods and raise the protection consciousness.
