ABSTRACT

Dermatologists frequently perform a number of procedures without the aid of an assistant and have sometimes difficulty to obtain hemostasis during the biopsy or other minor surgery. A flat plastic cylinder made of a disposable syringe effectively stops bleeding and procedures are easily carried out with a clean surgical field. It is believed to be inexpensive, durable and easy to be sterilized.

ABSTRACT

Solitary myofibroma is an uncommon myofibroblastic neoplasm, presenting as an asymptomatic nodule of the skin, which mainly occurrs in adults. It was thought to be the adult counterpart of infantile myofibromatosis. Although it has histopathological similarity to infantile myofibromatosis, it shows a discrete clinicopathological entity compared with infantile form on the basis of its much later onset, superficial location, invariable solitary occurrence and uniformly benign behavior. A-45-year-old woman had a skin lesion on the right upper eyelid for 2 years, which was a solitary, painless nodule with eyelid retraction. The excised tumor was diagnosed as myofibroma by light microscopy and immunohistochemistry.

ABSTRACT

Multiple trichoepithelioma is an autosomal dominant skin disease characterized by the presence of many small papules predominantly on the face. A 12-year-old brother and a 10-year-old sister had small, round, skin-colored papules around the nose for 3~4 years. On history taking, there was no family member with similar skin lesions. Histopathologic study showed typical findings of trichoepithelioma that were basophilic basaloid tumor islands, horn cyst, fibroblastic stroma, and papillary mesenchymal bodies. The lesions were treated with CO2 laser. We experienced and report uncommon and interesting cases of multiple trichoepithelioma in a brother and sister.
