ABSTRACT

In previous publications, the flavonoids, coumarins and cycloartenols, as well as three crystalline alkaloids; namely, koenoline, murrayacarine and koenimbine were isolated from Murraya exotica L. Further investigation of the oily fraction from carbontetrachloride extract of M. exotica L., revealed the presence of other two alkaloids as indicated from TLC technique. In a continuation of investigation of alkaloidal content of M. exotica L., the isolation and identification of these additional compounds; namely, bis-7- hydroxygirinimbine-A and bis-7-methoxygirinimbine, were presented

ABSTRACT

Three alkaloids were isolated from the air-dried powdered leaves of Murraya exotica L. [Rutaceae], two of them; namely, murrayacarine and koeinoline were isolated for the first time from the plant, while the third alkaloid, koenimbine, was previously reported. The identification was based on physical, chemical and spectral studies including UV, IR, H-NMR and MS analyses

ABSTRACT

From the air-dried powdered root barks of Murraya exotica L. [Rutaceae] six methoxylated flavones were isolated and identified as 5,6,7,8,3,4,5-heptamethoxyflavone, 5,6,7,8,3,4-hexamethoxyflavone, 5,6,8,3,4,5-hexamethoxyflavone, 4-hydroxy, 3,5,6,7,3,5-hexamethoxyflavone, 3,5-dihydroxy,3,6,7,4-tetramethoxyflavone and 4,5-dihydroxy, 3,6,7,3,5-pentamethoxyflavone. The identification of the isolated compounds was based on physical, chemical and spectral studies including UV, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and MS analysis
