ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the big five personality and body image in applicants for cosmetic surgery in Isfahan. This research project design was a correlation type and the statistical population included applicants for cosmetic surgery in the second half of 2014 and The first six months of 2015 in Isfahan. According to this purpose, a sample of 315 patients [238 females and 77 males] aged between 16 and 53 years old was selected through convenience sampling method among applicants for cosmetic surgery. Measurement tools of this research included Costa and McCrae's Revised NEO-Five Factor Inventory, short form [NEO-FFI -1993] and Cash's Multidimensional Body-Self Relation Questionnaire [MBSRQ-1997]. Data analysis by Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression showed a significant positive correlation between a number of personality traits and body image dimensions [p <0.001]. Also, the results of regression showed that among personality traits only conscientiousness could predict 2.7% of body image changes.According to these findings, conscientiousness may play a significant role in the tendency of individuals to perform cosmetic surgery

ABSTRACT

Background and Objectives: Central serous retinopathy is one of the eye diseases and one of the risk factors of it is psychological stress. The aim of this study was to compare the emotional controland extroversion in men and women with retinopathy and to examine the relationship between these two variables. It was also attempted to calculate the relative effect of emotional control and extraversion on the state and severity of retinopathy based on fuzzy logic algorithm

Materials andmethods: Roger and Najarian [1989] emotional control questionnaire and the 5 big factor personality test were used. After conventional selecting a sample, with a volume of 50 [40 male] from Isfahan ophthalmology hospitals, they were asked to answer the questionnaires

Results: There was no significant difference between the women and men in emotional control and extroversion. Extroversion showed a negative correlation with the subscale of emotional suppression [r = -0.36, p <0.009], and positive correlation with benign control [r = 0.38, p <0.006]. Considering to the allocation of input and output parameters, their effects on retinopathy using fuzzy logic algorithm has been figured out.According to the proposed fuzzy rules and ianterference engine the effect of variables categorized very well

Conclusion: Reviewing two important personality variables in retinopathy accompany with appropriate fuzzy algorithm were proposed to predict the effect of extroversion and emotional suppression on severity of retinopathy. This rate is achieved by applying the proposed fuzzy logic rules and algorithm. Statistical results showed the effect of the parameters well

ABSTRACT

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection [ICSI] has revolutionized the treatment of azoospermic men. The aim of this study was to evaluate the factors interfering in the success of ICSI, including sperm collection method, testicular histology, age and hormonal assay of the couple, the number of retrieved oocytes, and the number of transferred embryos. In this retrospective cohort study, 246 azoospemic men [52 with obstructive azoosprmia [OA] and 194 with non obstructive azoospermia [NOA]] who were underwent sperm retrieval with PESA or TESE and ICSI protocol were studied. By long protocol of ovarian stimulation, oocytes were retrieved 36h after hCG administration. After 48h, cleaved embryos were replaced in the uterine cavity. Clinical pregnancy rates [21.1% in OA versus 10.8% in NOA] was significantly correlated with sperm origin [P<0.05]. Female partner's age and serum FSH significantly influenced pregnancy rates in both groups [p<0.001] and also pregnancy rates was significantly influenced by number of retrieved oocytes and transferred embryos in NOA groups [P<0.05]. ICSI can make a chance for fertility in azoospermic men. Higher success rates in OA patients can be related to better quality of sperm. The value of male hormonal assay and testicular biopsy was not remarkable.
